    ASR Purchase Question

Hi all, hoping for some advice. I’m taking a serious look at a 2014 ASR, it’s near perfect condition but hours are at 790. It’s got the 6Lt Indmar. This seems high, but wondering if the broader group has comments on of this is worrisome or ok? Based on the shape it’s clearly been well cared for and maintained. The screen went recently, and was replaced, apparently around a 10yr lifespan, that’s a pretty pricey replacement and most other maintenance items are done. Interior is flawless, brand new cover, list goes on, it’s a clean boat. I feel good about it, but the hours make me nervous, am I overthinking it?

    Thanks in advance,

    A

If it’s clean I wouldn’t be afraid of hours. That’s less than 100 hours a year. ASR isn’t the greatest surf boat without putting some effort in but is a decent size if that’s what you want.

First off, welcome to the club! Second, much more important than hours are the way the boat is maintained. You can already see the exterior of the boat is well cared for, see what else the owner can tell you: when the impeller was changed, age of the trailer tires, etc. Everyone changes the oil, so IMO that's not a real good indicator. The tires and impeller are good indicators of someone that takes care of the details.

Good luck, and have a good one,
      Mike
