22V Mercruiser - Dies In Reverse

    Hey Guys,

tooknthe boat out for the last run of the season. ran perfect for 1hr.

When the boat was idling - I put in to reverse and it died.

i started it back up ( it took multiple tries and did not sound good )

Drive to the dock and it ran fine. Put it into reveres while idling toward the dock - and it died again.

Brought it home - and it won’t turn on or start. Fuel pump does not kick on and no click when I turn the key.

    - battery reads 12.8
    - all of the tabs, lights and ballast work on battery

throttle assmbly issue? Neutral safety switch on the transmission? Something with the perfect pass assembly on top of the engine?

    appreciate the help!

Check the throttle is still in neutral. If it is in gear the fuel pump relay won't engage.
Fixing everyone elses boat just so I can use mine...

I'm with boatwakes. Sounds like the shift cable is out of adjustment and is getting into reverse too soon. Pop the cable off the transmission, set the throttle and transmission into neutral and adjust the cable end to pop on the ball without having to move the shift arm on the trans.
      Oh Yeah!

Thank you. I’ll give this a try and see what happens.
