Secondary flap not closing on ‘93 mercruiser

Have a ‘93 tige 2000 slm with Mercuiser 350 carb.

Starts fine but dies when given gas. It will rev if I hold choke down. If I give it enough gas the flap feels like it wants to open

    Sprayed with carb cleaner.
Running better but tries to die when pulling up skier. Have to give gas slowly.
Fogged engine for first time last year. Maybe clogged something. Will run it more tomorrow.

That flap on top is the choke. It’s supposed to stay open. If things run better when you close it then your starved for fuel. Check float adjustment mixture and fuel supply. Maybe accelerator pump also.

Sounds like accelerator pump issue. What about if you increase the throttle super slow? stay running?

It will stay running if I gently give it gas. Once it gets going over 2500 rpm it does fine. Seems to be getting better.
Fogging may have affected the carb.
Runs okay as long as I don’t give it to much gas to start.
