2009 22Ve crack in gearbox and leak

The hairline crack in this gearbox starts letting water in just when the boat is sitting in water, doesn't have to be running. How serious is this, can it be repaired, does the whole thing need replacing, how big a job is that, etc...? Anyone ever seen this before? see attached photos...

That is an extremely serious situation and the entire unit needs to be replaced. Call your insurance company, they may cover it if you hit something.
Fixing everyone elses boat just so I can use mine...

Water gets sucked thru that lower chamber to cool the vdrive fluid. Its possible water was left in it over the winter and it froze. I would grab a 3/8 wrench and pull the plug(s) on top of the Vdrive and see if its milkshake inside. They plugs are square. Often very tight if its never been serviced.

          Yeah unfortunately that's toast.
It's cast so you can't weld it back together.
