Drain plugs qty & location

I have 2008 marine power 340. How many drain plugs should there be and where are they. Is there anything else i need to drain?

There are two plugs. One on each side of the block near the bottom. You will find knock sensors attached to them also.

Like DaBell said, there are 2 in the block, one on each side, and they are the knock sensors. They have a single blue wire connector. There are also a drain plug in each exhaust manifold that will need pulled. There is also a drain plug in the bottom of the trans cooler, but it's too hard to f' with, just loosen the clamp on the hose and pull the hose. This will drain the water from the V-drive, trans cooler, and the bottom of the raw water pump It's also a good idea to pull the hose off the top of the raw water pump to drain what little bit is there.

ok, semi confused. 2007 24ve with MP 340.

I found the drains for the exhaust mainfolds, unscrewed them, some water came out. Easy.

Next to them were what I thought to be "knock sensors" with the blue wire. (From memory here as I did this a month ago and the boat is inside a 60degree cave) I tried to unscrew but just the blue wire came off--I thought the whole thing would come out of the block. But id didn't, or I don't understand what to do. I must be missing something.

Also, it seemed like the hose for the top of the raw water pump was really difficult to get to since the engine is facing "backwards". How to get to it?

Of course I don't have pictures--just read and was looking for words of wisdom

Those blue parts will come off the Knock Sensors. You need to get the black part that on there to come off as well. The blue part is just what the wire plugs up to and will not allow water to drain.

The knock sensors are screwed into the blocks water jackets. The connectors need to be unplugged first, then use a wrench to pull the sensors. They are not plugs like what is in the manifolds. I'll go take a pick of Wailthing's 22Ve, since it's right hear at the house getting a ballast system done. I'll post up latter.

Most of the water will actually drain from the V-drive out through the pickup scoop each time the boat is pulled from the water, but the trans cooler lays low in the bilge. It will not fully drain until the hose is pulled, but it needs to be one of the hose ends connected to the cooler.

It looks like you should have 7 or 8 plugs according to that manual.

I assume they all need to be opened up?

So do you have any pictures of the hoses going into the trans cooler? This is the one thing I missed and it's getting down to 15 degrees on Thursday and staying below freezing till Saturday!

Not that I can remember, but i'll look. In the mean time, the cooler should be located kinda below the engine's oil filter. It will have 2 power steering looking hydraulic hoses running to it from the transmission. Then there will be an apx 1-1/4" dia. raw water hose attached on each end. One comes from the V-dive cooler and the other exits and goes to the inlet (bottom) of the raw water impeller housing. Just fallow the hose of the bottom of the impeller housing back into the bilge (toward the bow of the boat) you could find the cooler about 18" or so back. From there, just loosen the hose clamp and pull the hose off and let the water drain.

I pulled the hose on the V-drive side of the Trans cooler. Not very much water came out. There was a small amount of ice lining the inside of the hose from last night, hopefully no damage was done.
