Should new Tige use a little oil in first 10 hours?

I had a previous thread that my oil pressure alarm was coming on after my second day of using my new 2008 22ve. I got several responses that it was probably just a little low on oil. I checked it while on the lake and it looked pretty normal but after checking it again it does appear it may be 1/2 to 1 qt low. Is it normal to use a little oil during break in or is there something else i should check? It has about 10 hours on it.

    Thanks!

Yes as well as with any new engine will burn more oil until the engine has been broken in.

It's normal for a new engine to use a little oil, as well as any engine to use some between changes. If that engine was in a GM truck, normal consumption could be as high as 1qt in 3k miles. For the marine version, normal consumption could be higher due to the higher RPM's that a boat runs v's a road vehicle.
