I am struggling with a new prop decision since my 537 is probably toast. I can get a new 537 for $400.00 shipped and a 1235 is $588.00. I have not done too much shopping around yet but I have a 1000lb sac on the way and a broken boat so I need to make a prop decesion soon.

Are you trying to conserve electricity? Just empty the ballast.

In all seriousness, I would expect you to be able to plane with that much weight. Make sure to put the TAPS down.

Thanks for the input, Tall. Just more being lazy/impatient, I guess. The sacs aren't built-in -- they're fat sacs with the Tsunami pump. I did move the Taps all the way down.

I think before I put on the 1235, I would agree with Chpthril. Is it worth the $500 on the few occasions? But when I damaged my prop, and so did the 1235, I wanted to slap myself for not doing it before. The boat handled and performed so much better, with or without weight. On top of that, I only lost 1 mph on the top end.

Anyone tried the 1237 (same 14.25 pitch as the 1235, but 13.5 diameter like the 537)? That's what Acme recommended to me last year for better hole shot and riding with weight.

With 90% of the weight in the rear lockers I would think it would have trouble plaining. Just curious, why don't you weight the front for surfing?

Most of us have found the V/Ve hulls dont like weight up front.

This is weird. I have a stock prop on my 24v with 6.0l. I just had 16 people in the boat on the weekend with the 900lbs of ballast. The engine definitely worked harder but would still plane out and pull the rider out of the water. That is about 3300 lbs.

I'm still a relative newbie and am still experimenting. Some of the more experienced guys on the site are not using much, if anything, up front. I'll have lots of people with me next week to move around on the boat, so hopefully, we can dial it in.

Another thing to remember it he depth of the water you are in. None of the TIGE boats really like water less than 15' deep to build a good wake and surf.
