Yes, it does then when the get there license they all of a sudden think they are free to come and go as they please and don't have to ask for permission. We already had that battle last week.

Needless to say Mom won that one. She took the keys, license and all and put it in the safe. He has them back now but I think he learned his lesson. I hope. I am sure the battle will come again when he forgets the last one.. I hear girls are not any better and in some cases worse than guys. Don't know for sure though I have 16 years until I cross that road.

My daughter is 12 now. She's getting my Tundra when the dreadful day arrives that she can drive. It's funny, she tells me "no, I'm not driving that thing, you're buying me a convertible." She seriously believes what she is saying!! It blows my freaking mind. Her mother has her runied (spoiled ROTTEN). I'm eagerly awaiting the day I hand her the keys and say "I told you so." Are you kidding? I coulda pulled major ... In a minivan. Lay that third row seat down, and use that sucker for it's second intended purpose. LOL

Having said that, nothing convinced me more to get summer jobs than the 1980 Ford pinto hatchback my parents had saved for me! The faux wood grain side door paneling (faded to a nice shade of gray). Would have dropped the panties all over town!

We made our 16 yr old daughter put some of her own money in her car and pay the insurance. Here is a good one, she thinks she should only pay half the insurance while she is on a two week trip? Seems logical!

That will never happen as he knows that day is called DOOMZ Day for him. He would probably be meeting my CHP (California Highway Patrol) friends at the dock when he came in to get off the lake since they all patrol that lake and I have there phone numbers and at least one of them is alway on one of the shifts in the area patroling that area.
