xpmj1- all you had to do is call or email the guys there and they would put any size fittings you need on the setup! u also have a 24 footer, more hose= more time anyway! fact! im in a 20v, everything is compact and im only using 2 pumps, 8 min and im done!

lbx- i only lost a little in the under the long passenger seat, i usually take 3-5 people every time and fill most compartments other than that one! when you dont take a bunch of people i use the bow sack and a 1200 tsunami pump otherwise tell all kids or a couple of adults to sit up front! no much storage lost at all! that was a concern with me too!

chpthril- at the moment because my wife is a bit skeptical about putting another whole in the bottom, i use 1" hose out the compartment otherwise im going to put in the transom. ill fill while the rider is getting ready, its really that quick!

1200 in front when its only my wife and i, okay maybe closer to 1000, the bag isnt filled all the way about 3/4!
plus where i ride im in a private channel, sloped sides, and nobody else= perfect water from 5:30am till 2pm every sat and sun!

I've heard good results with T'ing into the raw water pick-up..........no new holes this way

i actually have an 1-1/4" tee on the boat incase i decide to do that, that is what they recommend actually!

I have not started my custom install yet, and will look at this method real close before I drill. I need to build the pump manifold first, and then lay it in and see how it will look.

ive really been thinking about this method too! i will probably do this before the beginning of summer, it only makes sense!

.Don't get me wrong. I was not knocking them. I was so close to ordering the 3 pump system. It has a lot going for it. In the end I just thought it was a good project for me and the boat to do my own ballast. Learned alot and still doing some minor tweakink. It also Kept me out of the casino's last winter.

Where do you put 1000 pounds in the front of a 20V? What fat sac are you talking about?

xpjim1- you could have always put a tee on both pumps and ran them to an integrated bow in front with the middle port on the bags as a vent, all with 1" hose. you could have saved money buy doing that. and not really sacrificed to much time! what 1 or 2 min?

Believe me I thought hard on this. I am perfectly happy with my system. when i was deciding on a system I was already planning on moving a battery and putting the make a wake behind the battery wall. I did not want to lose space under the seats where the surf sacs were going. In the end I decided on building my own. Again there is no right or wrong ballast system, it is just a consumers preference. As long a the ballast system is functional and works most people will be happy.

I think that the tsunami systems are more reliable and drain less battery. Those reversable pumps have to be maintained way to much for me

Good point, the Attwood pumps draw about 3-4 amps depending on which GPH, you roll with. The reversible pumps may draw 8-12 depending on which ones you choose, and typically it's best to use with relays IMPO. I also have read about, what seems to me, is a high number of impeller failures.

The reversible pumps are a great way to go with a ballast setup, but I'm not sure they are worth the added cost

that is why this set up rules, i can easily fix any problem by lifting up the cushion and unscrewing a couple of screws. i dont have to dive around inside the boat. an impeller problem wont be the problem if there is one, IMPO!

In my boat, that set up would be down in the bilge some where, as the under seat space will be filled with a sac. I believe the high impeller rate is due the these being self priming and tend to be mounted above the water line, and run dry till they prime

i guess everybody does there thing for a reason, i mean i never have that many people on my boat, last summer i think i put six or seven people at one time and that is a rarity, normally its me and my wife, and a friend or two. i dont really use that storage to much, so it seemed right to me.
