I never run bow weight and rarely have anyone sitting up there. Where are you mounting the gate? My wake shaper has the rear edge of the wedge right before the hull starts to curve around the back and I have it as low as possible. I will take pics of the Velcro later today.

Wind and chop can effect the wave but should not be enough to make the wave that bad.

I put it on the very back as low as it would go I should have taken pics but it was all trash . Super tall even with taps at 1. Now that you said something about placement I should have moved it up with 1000# in each corner swim deck was 5 inches under water maybe to much weight with gate and to far back?

I ran a boat with a gate for a few years. Fill the bow before you do anything else and then get back to us.....

Since we have the same year/model of boat, the only thing I can figure is the difference between the 2 wake shapers. I have the Ronix wedge and it is mounted as low as it can be. I wish I could be more help...

I have a 2011 RZ4 and it takes a LOT of weight to sink it for surfing. I have the factory pro ballast setup which is 1,800 pounds. I fill all of my factory bags including the front which is 400 pounds and then I add an additional 765 pounds in the rear on the surf side. I also have an additional 400 pounds human weight on the surf side and they sit in the middle of the boat on the surf side. I run my TAPS at 5 and my speed is 12.6mph. I'm 6ft tall and weigh 230 pounds. It seems to take a bit more push for me to be able to surf.

One other thing comes to mind and that is the speedometer is off. Try increasing (or decreasing) your speed until you get a solid wave, don't rely on your speedo being set to the same as someone else's.

I was able to get a better wave this weekend built a shaper like the Ronix but it was at a 45 degree angle . Put 1000 non surfside and 1100 surfside and 250 in the center .just had the kids and the wife in boat and 1 buddy so not much people weight. Got a lot better push but still not able to go rope less. I know that the perspective can be off in pictures but it looks like you are listing away from the surf side in that pic. Your wave looks pretty good, maybe just a little weight shift and you should be good to go.

I'll pull some weight non surf side and see what I get . What angle is the Ronix at?

I think it is about 35 degrees
