We noticed last weekend that the rear ballast bag is self draining (starboard side for sure, didn't check port side). We can't hear any pumps running, but every time we stop, it's about 1/2 full. What would cause it to start doing this after 2 years & no changes?

Is your system factory installed or custom? I had this problem with my custom set because I had the anti-siphon valves in the wrong place. It might be worth checking to see if your's are still good. Good luck! -
factory installed. The only thing I've done is swap 1 bag out for a little bigger one. I've had it like that since new though.Comment

That could do it. The large bag raises the maximum height of the water in the bag, then it passively drains down to the level of the T in the fill line, and even lower if the siphon gets started. Check valve on the fill line will remedy.Originally posted by carcrz View Post

Why would it start doing this all of a sudden though? It's been on there for 2 years now. It drains until the bag is almost empty too.Comment

Mmm.... If you don't have excess water in the bilge (leak) then I don't know why it would start doing that now. If you have changed how you fill (like overfilling lately vs watching closely and shutting off the fill with bag still having some room) maybe. I would try filling then take the fill line out and screw in a plug or shut off the thru hull valve. That will tell you if it's passive draining through the fil line. To test passive draining through drain line stick a wine cork in the drain thru hull. Test these separately to isolate the problem.Originally posted by carcrz View Post
