We just purchased a slightly used 2020 r23 and I know this question has probably been asked before but it has complexity stock ballast system and our family is an intermediate surfing skill level as we had a master craft before (but with it being a mid engine and poor surf deck design it was not surf able without a rope) super excited to try it out as I have had the ability to surf behind a g25 all last summer. Would you guys recommend extra ballast or weight in the r23 (as I know it’s only 3000lbs stock ballast while rzx is 3800lb ?). I want this boat to be surfable by anyone no matter size or skill level WITHOUT THE ROPE.

The 2020 should have the GSA Tabs (TAPS3T). We previously owned a 2015 Z3 (same hull as the R23) with GSA. We found that 600 in Lead Wake evenly distributed in the aft lockers was plenty! We had access to 1100 pounds in lead, but only needed 600 to make that boat sing! Good luck, pretty sure youre going to love it.
