BTW, I was amazed by the 22Ve prototype they showed at the 2005 owners reunion here in Austin. We had no ballast in the boat and here's a picture of my son (surfing for the first time). He was 5'2" at the time.
Here he is again last summer, except now he's almost 5'5". We're in my boat this time. I learned a lot from Surfdad's posts on weighting the boat, but I was having a hard time getting the wake dialed in because it was just the 3 of us.
Before I forget. I think that Nickypoo has an inboard, I'm sure that he has a good setup too. That board where James is throwing a Shuv is a Walzer. I think our Tige is pretty good for aerials also. The steep transition on the Epic makes it really hard to gain speed up off the lip.
If you compare the two pictures you can see the Tige throws about the same size wake, but with a much smoother and effective transition. Doing any trick on the Epic and an overweighted Moomba makes you feel like you're dropping out of the sky
I not sure which boat you're referring to. If it's a Tige 21i the king of that weighting is Larry Mann of Trick Boardz and Fresh Air Exhaust, I'm sure that he can give you details.

Reason: Type
Compare the above picture with this picture of the new Epic. The Epic is the KING of ugly transitions and a too steep wake. The problem with the Epic is that the ballast allows you to over fill it...folks would only fill maybe 3/8's to 1/2 of the ballast it would be much better, but not as tall.
The transition is that part of the wake where the flats go up to create the face of the wake. A nice smooth transition - one that is about as wide as it is tall allows for smoothing surfing, surface 3's don't catch the leading edge and you can pump up the face for aerials.
This is our Tige...the red circle is the transition.
We have a custom sac for our 23V that fills the entire port side from the rear storage up under the side bench seat - I need to recalculate the theoretical max weight...I think it's around 1500 pounds, but someone told me it should be closer to 1800 pounds.
We rode the moomba in FL last year. It throws a pretty good wake, but seemed a little steep in the configuration we rode. I think it could have used a few pounds in the opposing locker to knock the lip off and mellowthe transition.
What do you mean transition? How would you set up a 200 21i for surfing? I like the wake w/o ballast but would like to know what it would be like w/ ballast, any suggetsions?

How do you weigh down you 23v? Yea I really want to try also, Dose a 2006 Moomba Gravity Games/XLV throw a nice wake, I have some friends who ride that and its pretty nice from what I hear, I probably get a ride on that this summer, heres what the wake looks like, it is surfable?...lol
We have '03 Tige 23V. The Enzo is a nice boat. but I found it to be incredibly sensitive to weight placement. The hull has a significant V, so even 200 pounds moved can affect the wake, adversely. If you never change the number of people and weight you have on the boat, the Enzo throws a killer surf wake. I hope you get some surf time soon.
