I disagree. http://www.pfdma.org/choosing/types.aspx Type III USCG vests are not designed to turn you face up.

At least it will float you, allowing the boat to return and pull you out. Better than sinking into the depths.

YI have a SWAT vest to, but i always ride in the Oneill Gooru. Best part is, it's reversible so one way or another i always match.

I use a USGG Approved becUse I have to by law. However, there are a few vests that are approved that are comfortable. Got to some shops and try them on.

I didn't realize that CA requires you to use one while skiing ...that's all we've ever had on our boats, so I never even thought about that. I see a lot of people on the Delta with just comp vests. This past weekend I finally made it out with a friend who skis very well. He had a comp vest and told me how much he liked them, I put it on but it was too big for me. I did like how thin and light it was, but it is great to hear from everyone else regarding this topic.

The two forks south of Walnut Grove (I can never remember their actual names) North/South Mokelumne. Do you put in a Wimpys and head north to meadows/snodgrass? I'm always afraid to head up there, I bet a lot of other boaters are too = empty water.

I launch at Wimpy's/New Hope. It's dangerous getting to the Meadows and Snodgrass yes, but I've been doing it since the early 90's. Although just about 4 weeks ago another friend of mine that has been in those waters for nearly as long as me ripped off his tracking fin and toasted his prop on a stump that has been in the same place since the 90's as well so if you don't have your head in the game you'll do some damage!

Not Saturday. I was at a wakeboard comp for my son. Where is the "north fork" of the delta? I usually hang out at the meadows/snodgrass slough.

I loved my $125 comp vest that I purchased a few years ago, however I did not like getting the $140 ticket for riding with a non-CGA vest. The cop was actually nice because he could have ticketed the driver another $180 for not inforcing a CGA vest while driving my boat. If you dont have a lot of law enforcement on your water it might be worth the risk.
There are a lot of really nice vests that are thinner now and not as bulky. My buddy has a Helium vest that is really nice and thin and CGA.

I used to use comp vests until I went to TSR cable park. They required USGCA vests and rented the helium SWAT vest. I used it and loved it, I had the same mobility as my comp vest. Not too long after that I knocked myself out for a few seconds trying to land a 3. My wife noticed something was wrong when it took longer for me to surface than I normally do when I'm awake and swimming. I decided to make the switch to something with more flotation. I got the Helium SWAT and I still love it. My non-boating friends think it looks like the abs on the batman suite but it works very well.

I don't wakeboard anymore (broken femur in '99 and now age I just drive, surf, or drink beer).
Most of my family wears a comp vest only unless they are going to try a Raley for the first time, or something similar. haha.

I saw that one too, thank you. It was more geared towards surfing a really low impact sport. I would be using this 90% skiing 10% wakeboarding.

And I like seeing polls to view result quickly...plus Bacon was added to the poll .
