Hello Everyone, I just changed out the impeller on my 2007 24ve with the Marine Power 5.7. After the new impeller, when I try to run it on the fake-a-lake I only get a dribble of water out of the exhaust. I run the boat for 20-30 seconds before getting worried about overheating and shut it off. I have repeated that several times and nothing. I swapped in a spare impeller just in case and that didn't fix the issue either. When I take the cover off of the impeller housing, I can hear suction, so I believe the suction side is good. The boat ran great before the impeller change, and the old impeller came out clean with no broken or missing fins that would clog something up. Does anyone have any ideas for what I may be missing? I am leaving for a trip to Lake Powell in a couple of days and need to get this figured out! Thanks!

Help! New Impeller Not Pumping

I have seen the plunger face of the fake a lake allow water to escape the pickup area and when the line between the thru hull pickup and the raw water pump is dry, its extremely difficult for the pump to pull water in, the suction required is enormous. We have turned the fake a lake so the incoming water is aimed into the boat pickup and then held the face of the fake a lake tighter against the hull to make sure the water is forced into the intake line. Once the pump picks it up and is primed, it won't be a problem after that.
You can also install a garden hose connection on the inside of the boat.Fixing everyone elses boat just so I can use mine...

Had something similar happen on my boat. Turns out the shop installed an incorrect impeller. Was correct diameter, but was ever so slightly too “short” and wouldn’t pump water at all. You would never know it was incorrect without a careful comparison to the removed original impeller.
so I would recheck the part number

Thanks for the responses. As boatwakes suggested, I tried holding the fake-a-lake tight to the hull and read another post that said to rev the motor to help it prime. Not sure which one of those worked, but pump is working now. I may install the hose connection for next season though since I see a lot of people prefer that.
Thanks Again! My trip is saved
