I was going to mention this if the bracket didn't solve the issue. Of course the drill happy mechanic would have remained anonymous. Haha

I just spent all day on and off the lake, in and out of the dealership all to find out that the dealer had installed the top brackets for the surf plates backwards. They also do not use proper or enough sealant and I was leaking probably 4 gallons an hour into the bilge.

yes, Bamer, eagle marine. it was done over the winter. I keep the boat stored at PK so will be out next week to check and fix, if needed. hope the bracket reversed is the fix and it's simple

I believe you have the same color scheme as mine right ...blue n silver? They installed the update in early December and I believe you saw my boat there.

They fixed it in about an hour or so.

The top brackets were preventing the plates from being stowed up high enough which caused the plates to always be in the water. It actually made the steering to have strange behaviors too

I'd have to dig up the instructions off the dealer website. Ive been using white 4200 for most installs(in case the brackets ever need to come off). If its black gelcoat I've been using Boat Life black. Dont ask me why but black 4200 and 5200 is always too darn runny for my liking and it takes forever to cure.

I use the boat life white. Skins over in a few hours and has some good body to it and does not run off of a vertical surface.

I rarely have the need for a permanent like 5200.

Nice. I may have to order in some white boat life and give it a go. I only recently switched to the black because I was tired of 3m black
