    Rzx2 vs rzx3 storage

Anyone with real world experience know the differences minor or major when these 2 boats are compared with storage room. Does the subfloor ballast give you that much more storage over the z3?

I can't testify as to the rzx2 vs rzx3 as we just keep selling 3s. Can say that storage is day and night above a z3.
I was just in the lockers putting PNP bags in an rzx3 today and I can comfortably bend down inside of them and could close the hatch panel on top of me if I wanted too. I'm 6'2" and 270lbs..
When in a z3 locker I regularly have to slide my feet forward and under the seats to really get in there. If you'd like I could give you some actual dimensions. Koolaid probably can get an for you even quicker, or elevated may know right away as well.
Regardless I'd say Apple's to Apple's the rzx2 and rzx3 have to be close in size, but the 3 has a deeper freeboard, which should mean more storage. Rzx3 compared to a z3 is like comparing apples to oranges...heck, Apple's to an avocado. Subfloor gives you a ridiculous amount of room, and as long as you run a smaller bag like a 600 you still have room for gear on top of the PnPs

Don’t forget about the rear locker storage of the 3. Meant for surf boards but storage is storage. Not sure if it’s water tight. Doubt it.

not sure if you've seen this. My experience with the z3 with full ballast you realy only have under the dash and the one bow locker.

The only way the Z3 has more storage than the RZX2 is if the ballast is empty! I agree with @bsreid

Yeah...Z3 sucks for storage if surfing. If surfing, I can stick a couple life jackets and a towel in the lockers. I tend to go out for 2-3 days at a time and just camp on the boat in the cove so storage is a premium. I do wish the Z3 had some subfloor ballast. For me, I just quit surfing and my enjoyment level and storage capacity went up.

If you can handle carrying more lead that might be an option to free up storage.

Problem is you need about 600-800 pounds of lead plus all the bags to get the good wave. Adding a bunch of lead would be a total pain and pretty much make it a one trick pony.

But that's the beauty of the Z3. If all you want to do is surf then it does that very well. If you could care less about surf then it does everything else as well as one could hope from a 23 foot Vdrive. If I have someone who really want to surf then I leave lockers empty so I can fill max ballast, throw in the lead and change out the prop...and it surf great. Although I have to say, 90% of the time they just hold the rope....which makes me wonder why I went to the trouble to rig for surfing for them.

Anywho...back to original question. If you need storage and are big on surfing, you won't be happy with the Z3 storage.

It is from Tige's website. You can compare different models.

I stole it off the website. The rzx2 was awarded best surf boar of the year. To answer your question some, yes some say it’s better.,

As others have mentioned the storage numbers are a little wacky as they list the storage in the Z3 that is technically un-usable when ballasted up. The Rzx line will have loads more storage room when using the boat with ballast given the numbers are regardless of whether the boat is full of weight or not.

As for bow storage. In the Rzx2 you dont have any. The 2 has 2 250ish lbs bow bags that are true bow bags as they run to the very front of the nose. The Rzx3 on the other hand has 2 hockey stick shaped belly bags that run even with the observer/Driver seat. That means that the complete bow in the 3 is open and by open I mean the underseat storage can store 6 buoy's 7 vests, a throw, dock lines and my anchor set and 300 lbs of lead, and its still not full. If you want a massive amount of storage thats the boat to have bar none.

All 3 boats surf awesome. The Rzx line is a significant step up in terms of sheer mass and size of the wave as well as power. Its not close and thats just because of physics. Much bigger bigger boats. For example a stock Rzx vs stock z3 has a drastic margin between the two. The Z3 will always release water a little cleaner.... We are doing quite a bit of testing in regards to how the plates are set in the RZX. We thought the difference was a sure fire hull thing, and while the z3 will prob always have a slight nudge in that department, we are getting the Rzx right there in terms of how clean the face is.

    Hope this helps.

The two are really close. The Rzx2 can truly be even weighted. The 3 needs a little lean. The 3 is a smidge longer. I love the Rzx2 wave though.
