Can the steering cable on a 2006 20v be lubed or just replaced? How do you lube it if so?

Only part of the cable that can be lubed is the visible part of the cable...not worth it. Replace it instead.

If it's stiff, it'll need to be replaced.

Some things you can do to increase the longevity of your cable:

- Turn the wheel all the way so the cable is fully retracted into the sheath when you store your boat
- Drain all the water out of the bilge before storing your boat
- Run your replacement cable over the gas tank instead of under it on a V-Drive when you replace it

Hope this helps.

Hey Dogbert; Running the cable on top of the fuel tank is a great idea! Wish I thought of it a couple years ago. Whayt a pain that was. Do you think it will work on a 24 V as well? Its time for mine again :(

I'm not really the guy to ask, I'd PM lee. Based on what he wrote in other threads, I'd say yes, but I'd verify it with him first. MY boat still has the old rotary style steering. I am getting mine replaced as we speak.
