if you could build your ultimate wakeboard boat what would it be? i would like to take a little bit from each manufacture. what would you like to see in your new tige? get creative, i'm sure we could all come up with some cool ideas.:D

I would want to have an boat with:
23 Foot V-Drive
2000 Pounds of Auto-Fill Ballast with Gauges on the Dash.
360 Hp Motor to pull anyone out of the water with full tanks.
Black Hull, Red Main Panel, Black Deck.
Something similar to Malibu's Gel Coat with a smaller version of the West Coast Graphics on the side of It.
The Malibu Titan Tower or a MasterCraft Tower.
360 Degree rotation Board Racks. 4 Sets of Racks, 8 Boards total.
7 Light Bar - 4 Back & 3 Front.
6 Fusion Series Speakers.
2 Twelve Inch Subs
Custon Vinyl Graphics on the back similar to the West Coast Graphics.
Grey Vinyl Seats with Black and Red Bead in a Pin-Stripe design.
Taps2 plate.
Chrome accessories - Everything chromed out.
:D

Two speed transmission. This way we can get people out of the water when weighed down, but yet do 55 MPH when you're cruising across the lake.

2000 pounds of automatic ballast that is hidden or mostly hidden.
Board racks that swivel and are not in the drivers peripheral vision.
A dash or cockpit that has some detail to it such as chrome bezels around the display, something that is stylish and not flat and boring. It should have some depth to it and still be easy to read. For example, the Mastercrafts X45 and Xstar are nice.
A gel coat pattern that has some type of pattern in it. Such as a carbon fiber look. An example would be the new 05 CWB Absolute boards. If you look at the boards up close they have a nice carbon pattern to it, but from far away its not as noticeable.
The tower should be thick and solid with plenty of head clearance (like the 05 Tige Towers).
All white or all red would be my color of choice.
That's al I could think of for now.

A huge gas tank
eletric cooler
lexus power plant like in the toyota boats.
and that two speed tranny would be great.

136 of you have read this and only 5 of you have a dream boat. i get more suggestions than that from people that walk in the door here every day. come on guy's lets hear it. what do you want and look for in a boat? lets hear from some of the wifes, everytime i take a boat from here my wife has a ear full of ideas. some good and some bad but at least she knows what she likes.

I asked my wife and she said "pockets in the storage area", that way you can stow sandals, ropes, lotion etc. on the walls of the storage compartments. A fancier dash was also mentioned. The most comical was " a push button bimini top" kind of like a convertible top. I think that only refers to my model since you can burn up to 2000 calories trying to assemble my bimini top!
I would still like to see hidden, automated ballast (fast too, like 1000 or 2000 gph pumps) that doesn't kill storage space.
Also what about a stereo system that turns up and down. Example, when you slow down it turns down to speak to your rider, etc., when you speed up it turns up. I hate having to mess with the volume all of the time.
Board racks that are user friendly. I notice when I ride I or the person in the boat has to take them down off the tower and then place them on the back of the boat while the rider is suiting up. The same goes for putting them up, you have to twist around the tower to put them back on. How about having board racks that are placed on the gunnels sides of the engine area?

Great, Great Idea! That is something I see every driver having to do. Always messing with the stereo while try to talk/hear the rider. That would be an amazing thing for a boat to have!

My dream boat would bo sort of a mix between an X-star and a Tige.
-It would be a 24V Riders Edition. The bottom of the Hull would be Blue along with the main panel. The back end would be red.
-Same layout as the Tige but built like a mastercraft. No offense, but Mastercrafts are a little higher quality boat, but they also have the 77,000 dollar price tag to go with it. My best freiends leased an X-Star and always bashed my boat as being "inferior." When they got it taken away because they couldn't afford it, I bashed them for not having a boat and wouldn't let them on mine because it wasn't "good enough" for them. F*** them I say. I got a new crew and we all freakin' love my Tige, especially when there is about ten of us in it. That wake is unreal. I can't wait to get ballast this summer. Hell with Master craft too. As my Tige dealer says, Mastercrafts are for people with too much money to burn.
-Big gauges for everything because I love big colorful gauges to read data on things that I don't even care about.
-I like the new towers on the '05s, so I will stay with that.
-A light/speaker bar consisting of bright xenon lights and four Alpine Speakers
-Two 12" Alpine X-type subs powered by a 3000 watt Rockford amp because they really bump.
-A 2000 lb. ballast system with light up switches like the ones that rival ballast systems has.
-The engine would be an LS2 out of a Corvette because the make alot more power than cadallac and toyota engines. They are pushin around 450 hp. I would like the block to be cast rather than aluminum because there is no reason to save weight in a wakeboarding boat. The more the better.
-The new fiberglass deck looks nice because it doesn't require as much maintenence as my teak one.
-I would also put in xm radio and all Alpine speakers.
-One of Sony's new HD camera's would be nice to film out day out on the lake would be nice as well.

I would like a boat that rides like a large I/O ( Smooth in rough water ) but handles and has the power of a good V drive. It would have a computer that monitors everything ( Speed, all engine functions, air temp, and FUEL ). You’d have the ability to preset different options. ( Like speed and Taps settings )
A power seat that could change in height.
And as long as we are wishing, some kind of retractable skid plates that could be used if you wanted to beach your boat. ( Yes I know, Never beach your boat, but what if you could with out fear of damage? )

My wife says the same about the storage compartments that Matt's wife desires and she agrees with the ballast ideas. Also adds that hot/cold shower should be standard.

I would love to see a boat with gel coat that does not get blisters (Boat Pox’s) when you leave it in the water. (This is the biggest thing all boat manufactures need to do it’s a boat and boats are used in the water.)
An automatic ballast system that is fast with gauges showing how full each tank is and separate pumps for each tank so you can adjust the wake the same each time for different riders or different sports.
I agree with the radio volume, maybe a switch on the throttle like the taps switch to raise and lower the volume or a pause/mute button on the throttle that would pause the CD or mute the speakers.
An adjustable seat height for the driver one that would raise and lower the post so it is comfortable for all size drivers.
A quality tower that does not shake has room for several board racks with easy access and does not block the drivers view.
An engine with lots of torque to get the boat up to speed quickly when loaded with weight but does not suck all your gas doing so.
A bimini top that fits the tower and is easy to fold up and bring down.
All in a boat that is affordable for your average working person.

All very good ideas. And here is mine.
We boat in colder weather. Most people think we're nuts but who cares I'm having fun. A plexeglass slip in in the walk way like Malibu would be nice. No ofence but the stif vinyl one that came with my boat is cheese.
Balast that fill fast. Boards racks that are easey to get to and have no stupid bungie cords to hold them on. Extra little compartments behind the walls of the boat sides, front and back (like the malibu we saw.) My wife realy loved them. Places to but towels sunscreen ect. without having to open the big storage are. A stero remote at the rear of the boat also. Mute buttom works great for me to talk w/the rider. But the auto volume like on my GMC Duramax would be cool.
I'm sure i could think of more given more time.
Kyle
The 2005 boats have a drop in windscreen.
I second the auto volume idea. Constantly turning the stereo up and down every time a rider drops is a pain. Cars have had it for years.

How about an electronics locker?
Would be something like this: Behind the observer's seat there would be a built in fiberglass box with a hinged door where you could mount your amps, and misc. electronics. It could be cooled by air vents, have wire chases, and intigrated mounting points, etc. It would really help keep the storage area uncluttered. I know some people like to show this stuff off, but I would like to have it all hidden.

Ballast for sure. Taps is great, but Taps plus ballast is even better
Illusion tower on Malibu. I saw a really nice one (made by the same people that make the Illusion?) on a tige at the boat show in Vegas this spring.
I have to disagree with the 2 speed transmition. I have a 96 2200V with a 390hp 454. It can get up to 54-55mph and has NO problem pulling up a rider with 10 people in the boat and 1700 pounds of ballast. more big HP.
Agree 110% with speed sensative volume!!!!
The wife says heated passenger seats.

The dream boat would be paid for.
# Speed sensitive volume...That would be cool.
# Gel coat graphics, No matter how good the stickers the kids will hit something and rub them off.
# The wife wants a quiet exhuast so you can hear the stereo.

A built in ballast system, perhaps tanks not bags. With an easy fill & empty system, and it doesn't take away any storage.
A little bit straighter backing, but I understand the physics of V/direct drives and it's a small price to pay to have one, no big deal really. Most boats have bigger demons than this.
I understand Volvo is about to introduce a 360 degree under hull stearing prop drive. The prop rotates and gives 360 degrees of steering, no rudder.. Might be interesting to see how that works out.

Charlie, you need a better ballast system. I installed a Rival with custom sacks, which is nice, but it destroys storage. The nose is incredibly light compared to the rear, which softens the wake a lot. So, a hard tank up in the front, under the floor, that hold 700 Lbs would be nice. Then, my 750s in the rear would not be overkill. But, it has to be like a rival with big in and out pumps. Also, I need false floors over my rear sacks so I can use that area as storage. Guess I will be building that part.
Better exhaust on the marine power, it is too loud
Shocks on the front seats so you can actually open them and get into the compartments without holding the heavy seats up.
Better interior finishing, the quality is just not as good as Malibu, MC or CC.
Titan Tower, or at the very least a brushed tower option, and preferably a way to remove the 'Tige' swoop from the tower with a tube that can be used to mount racks.
A way to lock up your amps so they are not so easily stolen.
Mesh hold downs in the compartments.
I like the auto volume a lot
Most of the other stuff asked for are options on a new boat, so it has to be structural work.

how about these ideas: a rear-facing camera in the transom that displays on a screen in the dash; also hooked to a DVR so you can record sets. A heads-up display in the windscreen or mirror that shows speed and rpm. An integrated GPS linked to a depth meter for bottom mapping that you can play back or download. Throttle by wire. Wireless intercom your rider can wear so you can communicate during a set. I'd like to see some of this stuff in my dream boat.

ok, now we're talkin' i like Matt's ideas as the base model, then we could make the SEAL edition proper. My wife and kids would have a beefy bimini top with some of those misting systems like you see at the major theme parks to keep 'em cool while i'm riding!
Tige M.D.
04-14-2005, 03:05 PM
throttle by wire should be on its way. some offshore boats are already using it. i have the H.U.D. in my car at home and love it. we have been talking about a camera and monitor for some time now but have not gotten around to doing it yet.

So, because these boats back to the right, I have decided that they either need to do like Malibu and put fuel fillers on both sides, or put it on the right hand side so that when you pull up to the fuel dock, it is right there and handy.
70 Gallon fuel cell would be nice too.

One that runs. ;) :D
Just kidding.
We have just a few hours in our 06 24V, but from spending time in a ton of other types of boats here would be my list:
1. large fuel tank 70+ gallons as mentioned. Everyone wants ballast, why not use some fuel and not have to worry about filling up all the time.
2. Inset grab handles and cupholders in the gunnels. With small kids, large waves or quick turns leave them looking for a place to grab. The cupholders on the floor is a disaster waiting to happen for us.
3. Board racks that don't kill you vision when turning. Already mentioned, but much needed.
4. Speed sensitive sound level is a GREAT idea!! Can that be hooked up to the speedo or PP??
5. Small cooler area in the front for passengers like the X-45.
6. Optional table could be used either in the rear or front area.
7. I would like to see some dealer installed "upgrade" items that could personalize your boat. For example, billet step plate for behind the driver, different steering wheels, billet glove box lid, etc etc. Just some easily installed "bling" items to turn your Tige` into your own machine.
8. HINGED SEAT COVERS TO THE STORAGE AREAS!!!!! Grabbing the handles to yank up on the seat covers just to get a beverage is archaic at best. This should be an effortless task that even a kid can handle!
9. More power. I don't care how much you have, more is always better.;)
mine would be
Large stock ballast with lots of room to put even more sacs. lots of seating.
v drive
bigger tower just a little taller. racks speakers lights bimini
playpen bow seating with removable center.
walkway seat also removable.
atleast 4 speakers in boat and a sub 2 amps and cd with i pod conection then whatever on tower.
lots of drink holders
bigger cooler
a table that plugs into the floor kinda like the malibu for some parties and drinking games
bigger gas tank
storage under every seat
heater
PP
shower
and keep the swim deck WOOD
colors i duno i love my yellow and white with white and yellow int and black carpet combo
and i agree on the tons of chrome

24' direct drive with a big block or a small block stroker. 60 mph minimum.
2 speed tranny.
Triple Taps- main center taps and one plate on each side to adjust side to side lean. Level for wakeboarding, offset for surfing. No need to move people from side to side or filling one tank or the other, just flip the switch.
Steering wheel mounted stereo controls. Telescoping wheel would be a nice addition also.
I-POD plug in and mount that is water tight with all controls operated through a dash mounted remote WITH a display (steering wheel controls tied into this as well).
New dash with lots of pretty gauges pointed directly at the driver and
more leg and knee room (I dont know how you guys bigger than 6' even deal with the newer helm). I personally think my 2000 22i has THE most comfortable helm ever. It feels like a sports car. The new ones feel like a dump truck. Malibu definately has, by far and away, the best helm right now.
Some sort of below water line exhaust for surfing, switchable to above waterline for everything else.
Flip up platform for storage.
Integrated anchor light on the tower and in hull nav/docking lights. The pop up nav lights are stupid.
In floor ballast. I like Calabria's system. I've never been in one but the theory behind it kicks *ss.
Play pen bow. I hate to say it but, I like the Supra set up.
Aft lounge. Malibu has this one pretty much wired as well.
The Supra tramsom. Tige's sloped transom is totally worthless. The Ve's are definately a step in the right direction though.
Trailer- 4 wheel electronic vented disc brakes and oil bath bearings. Dual spare tire mounts that use the same lugs and nuts as the axles. 100% LED lighting.
The tower is getting there but, it is still ugly. The front hoop looks terrible.
Fixed, "hard" bimini. something that does not need to be taken down for travel. It must be big for big shade. All tower mounted with no straps connected to the hull.
Tow cover that covers everything, tower, platform, everything.
Soft fuel cell in a hard container with separate soft water cell that continuously fills as you burn off fuel. That way it is like always having a full tank (at least weight wise).
Custom gel coat. The ability to create your own design and colors.
That's it for now but, I'm sure I'll think of something else as soon as I submit this.
i thought of some other things interoir lights
less ugly tower i agree with too i love the design of my wakedesign tower and the flight control on the nauti are nice too i dont like the new towers tho espically the new malibu one
maybe have some sort of stadium seating atleast in the corners so the driver can still see can also be removable and able to flip it back around for regular non watersport activities

ANYTHING I WANT???!!
Ski locker for ballast.
Separate thru hull fittings for each ballast bag or tank.
Gauges for ballast levels on the dash.
I like the tall tower, but wish it was easier to take down and erect. Tool less maybe?
Bimini that seems more integrated than an afterthought.
How about light gray vinyl that doesn't give you 3rd degree burns?
Autovolume stereo with steering wheel controls would be great
More Fuel efficient pain free engines (Lexus)
Swivel board racks
PP on the transom and dash
Skireel that doesn't look hideous
I like Moombas seat that accomodates a full cooler underneath it. I can pull out the cooler instead of having to empty the one in the boat.
Sideswipe exhaust
NVS tower speakers, and move the boat speakers where they can be clearly heard. Having them on the floor sux
storage in the gunnels (gunwales? can't remember what it's called)for drink holders / speakers/ bungie nets
dedicated ventilation for audio/video equipment.
Longer Bigger Teak platform. I wanna be able to put some lounge chairs back there to watch events.
Vertical Transom so water doesnt come over the back when and novice is driving, while I'm surfing. Or just sitting at a contest
Gas fills on both sides
Gelcoat options, no stickers.
Who's going to make this boat for me? Will you take mine on trade?

There are some great ideas; but this is how I would do it.
1. The 24ve hull/prop angle/TAPS2 all the way (rode behind it and drove it-love it, it drove as smooth as my old 98 Ski Nautique-"Direct Drive").
2. The teak platform with a board-stop on it, along with the slanted "in then out" transom of the 24ve (genious).
3. I like the three transom compartments on the 24ve (they need latches).
4. A "CENTER" walk-through with the ski pylon head that retracts so you don't trip on it, then a filler cussion for the walk-through for laying on the whole sun-deck.
5. FULL SNAP OUT CARPET!!
6. Under-floor ballast(1500lbs) for when just a driver and I go out(I know this raises the floor up but I can manage), 2000gph ballast pumps, and a ballast forward-fill scoop.
7. Nautique-style graphics and interior (Best drivers console out-IMO).
8. PCM powerplant, throttle-by-wire, and Perfect Pass (Tige' Speed Set is close).
9. The new Tige' tower (with more stiffness), easier bimini, and "Titan" style "swivel-boardracks" and lights.
10. Diamond Audio soundsystem in the boat, and Skylon Deffcon V tower speakers, with AUTO VOLUME.
That's just a general run down of my dream boat.

How about making the tower taller, with electric board racks. You see this on fire trucks for ladder racks. They swing down to load and unload, then rotate up and out of the way. No more standing on the side of the boat to get a board in or out.
LED running lights and interior courtesy lights.
Interior body panels need to have locking nuts on them so that they don't back out over time.

Technology for this is way off in the distance but, in addition to the other items I've listed, how about a boat that runs on hydrogen pulled from the water you are on. Have a pickup that continuously fills the ballast tanks that in return feed the hydrogen power plant. Never pay for gas again. Always towed and stored empty. I believe water weighs more that gas doesn't it? I think gas is about 6 pounds/gal and water is 8 pounds/gal. This would mean more ballast when full with no burn off. No gas fumes and no polution. It would actually make your lake cleaner.

What about a hybrid powerplant? Batteries are made of lead (= ballast). Still have to figure out how to recharge them...maybe some sort of water driven generator?
Of course, this would suck if you wanted to ski...but hey, let's just turn that into a whole new sport...extreme skiing. Who's going to be the first to throw down a 360? Hey, they do it in snow skiing....
I was searching for the pro/cons of a cover on the spare trailer tire mounted on the trailer and found this thread. I was wondering if it was worth it since the spare gets dunked everytime the boat goes in and out.
I didn't find the answer but I have to thank everyone that contributed to this thread, seems like Tige listened. My boat has most of the items on the wish list except the full snap out carpet (available in 2010s) and automatic volume control based on speed (only aftermarket right now). I LOVE having fuel fillers on both sides of the boat, I love the tower, the bimini, the ballast, and all the other items that have been added, such as the gas struts on the hatches. Thank you all for helping Tige build my boat and thank you Tige for listening to the customer and building what we want.

OK, using a hydrogen fuel cell for power to an electric motor is possible. However, how do you get the energy to split the water into hydrogen and oxygen through electrolysis? It takes as much energy to perform that as you get from then re-combining the hydrogen with oxygen in your fuel cell (actually more, taking energy losses into account). So, you need a portable energy source to power your system. Perhaps a generator running on gas? :D
I nominate Nick's boat as the technology testbed. ;)
Anyone know someone with one of the electric epics? The video looks cool, just listening to the sound of the water going by. I plan to keep my boat for quite a few years, hopefully long enough for the battery technology to come down in price and see it on a Tige in 5-10 years. I'm not a green environmental thumper but electric motor powered by electric generator engine is how trains run, and it makes more sense on a boat than it does in a car IMO.

Electric is the way to go right now. The advancements in the last few years are making it completely realistic to do.

I would like Power Steering, quick fill ballast with level control that completely fill the rear lockers, a floating floor in the cabin with ballast underneath and as the ballast fills the floor rises. Seats that do not pull apart and Gel that does not blister and towers that I do not bang my head on or feel unsafe being underneath it.
