I went over to NorCal MasterCraft (*urp*...I think I threw up a little bit in my mouth typing that...) to purchase a box anchor. They didn't have the size I needed on the display, so the kid went in the back and brought me one in a sealed shipping box. He opened it to make sure it was actually the anchor, and after paying I was on my way home. Get home...look at the box and notice it says "Quantity: 2" on the side. Hmmm. Sure enough, there are two anchors in the box. I returned to the store and I wish I had a picture of the kid's face when I told him there were actually two in the box. I did make sure that his boss didn't overhear me because I didn't want the kid to get in trouble. The size we need, if anyone needs the info, is the small box anchor; it covers vessels 18-30 feet in length. NorCal charged $167 plus tax.

Kudos! There's nothing wrong with being a good person. I wish there were more people like you in the world.
Instead, there are those that steal my stereo (twice), cut in line, don't wear deodorant, park their boat and trailer in the middle of the boat ramp and proceed to unload all their crap into their car, while everyone else is waiting to get their boat out of the water. Do I need to keep going?

Why? I'm guessing that it is because it is probably how your were raised and you would hope/want someone to do the same for you (whether employee or owner in this particular situation).
Honesty and integrity seem to be an exception rather than the norm in our society these days. It is amazing...if a cashier gives me too much change, I'll return it and people look at me like I am insane. OK, so it maybe due to themask, snorkel & fins I'm wearing under my trench coat. Anyway, you get the point.
Thank you for your honesty!

Guys, It's interesting reading this thread... Most of you know my boat story...
If not go here to read the backstory. (http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5277&highlight=heartbroken)

Well a few weeks ago I get a message on Facebook saying this: "I found something pink floating in Saguaro Lake yesterday. If you can ID it and contents, I can deliver it to you."
Well I emailed her back right away: "Julie, I had a boating accident out there over a year ago and my boat capsized. (I can send you pix if you want. It's funny now but wasn't at the time.) I'm sure you found something of mine but I have absolutely no idea what it is. I lost everything that was on the boat including my wallet, car keys, wakeboards, skis, etc. so again I just don't remember what I had that was pink. It was September of 2007 when it happened."
So her response is: "Sounds like a match! I was kayaking yesterday and had a hunch there was "something to find" in a reedy cove. I saw a pink floating bag ( probably your wife's old makeup bag? and your WALLET was inside, and your birthdate on FB matches the birthdate on your license. Yay intuition. My fella and I tried to look up your ph # on Google, no listing, so on another hunch I looked up your name in FB this morning. I live in south Tempe so we can schedule a reunion this am if you like. "
So we met at the mall and returned my wallet with $320 moldy dollars in it. I did give her a fresh $50 for her trouble and honesty...
I took pictures of the laundering process...

I found a wallet of a guy on the ski slopes last year. tried to track him down and ended up getting a hold of a tire center that knew him. was over 300 in cash in it. It was christmas eve, and I knew he was here with family. He was a grandfather I'm sure. When I finally got in touch with him he had no clue he had lost it. He gave me 20 bucks so my bro and I could buy a drink. He didn't even open it to check. I just told him, "Merry Christmas" He insisted I keep the 20. I tried not to, but oh well. bought some food and my bro and I had a blast.
I have lost too many wallets, I always try and return them.

I lost a wallet once. I had this bad habit of sitting it down between my legs in my truck and when I would get out, I would kick it out on accident. Well, I finally lost it (for some reason I still do this with my damn cell). Had over $100 in cash, a couple very large limit cards and worst of all, my social security card.
The manager at Harolds around here recognized my name on my card when someone tried to use it (must have been a high class thief...haha). But that's all that was found :(
A year later, I got a letter from the police department stating they had something of mine that had been turned in to their lost and found. When I went and picked it up, it had EVERYTHING in it except for the cash and the Harolds card. I was shocked....lol.

That's an awsome story LBX
My wife dropped her wallet at a swap meet with six hundred in it.A week later we got it in the mail with the money still in in.I live in America by the way.
Only America poisons their own kind. Please, take a trip to Europe (excluding Britain), or Asia (pick any country) and go into the convenience store or grocery store. No high fructose corn poison, no saturate fat loaded snacks, no candy bazillion, no soda fountains. Instead...you will find something called "food". I'll never forget the Philippine Nurse on a trip to China who was working in Texas at the time said, "why are there so many Americans on depression drugs?” She felt she had the ideal treatment and proceeded to share her remedy. She said just ship the Americans to the Philippines for 18 months and they will be cured. Having been there, I laughed as I fully understood what she was talking about. While many share their experiences of integrity and generosity by other American brothers and sisters (and ourselves), this element is not inherent in our “blame others” “me” and "have to have it now" society. This does not mean I am anti-American, I am 100% American (and Republican too). It's simply difficult to be objective when we live in a bubble. Back to the topic, I've had more dishonesty and theft than I have had honest and trust experiences in my 40 years "living in America". The ratio is probably 10 bad experiences to 1 good experience. Therefore, in conclusion to this interesting topic...the typical American experience and response to a virtue of this nature must be shared with passion because "IT IS NOT NORMAL".

OOOO BSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EKAG, either your not who you say you are, or your just full of BS!!!!!!!!!!! I was born in spain, was raised here in the US, then went back and played professional soccer in spain. Considering spain is generally considered one of the cleanest and honest countries in the world, I can tell you that it's no diff. from the U.S. I've also traveled quite extensively across the world. Former Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Russia, Iran, Hungary, Turkey, Etc. etc. American's are the most virtuistic people I've ever met. BTW, I consider myself Spanish, NOT AMERICAN. You sir are full of Crap! Hey Lunchbox, you should deposit all of that money in the bank. What a great story that is. What you should do is keep a few of those 20's and take a few of those photos place them all in a nice matted frame and hang in on the wall in your office or home. What a good reminder of genuine kindness and honesty; and for whoever see's it they would certainly want to ask you, "what is this all about?" Then you can share your experience with them.

Wonder how you peeps feel about family??
I spent the entire summer last year running everyone here and there and everywhere on the water. I had a place in a trailer park where several other related families also had places. I seriously took them everywhere... Only one person ever offered me any money at all. I didnt take the money, but was very appreciative. I will admit that it got annoying that all I did was bleed green for them. Do you guys expect to pay for family regardless and do not expect them to pony up any money?

sorry :ot: Regulars are expected to pay. Newbies (or infrequent guests) are freebies. Fat girls are expected to bring snacks and hot girls are expected to wear very, very little--or they pay gas money too. Family would be expected to pay unless they were outta towners.

so my random act of kindness happened the other day. A professor from East coast school send me a scathing letter about how if I didn't get my paper to him before midnight, he wouldn't accept it. Even though I'd recieved an extention, due to family difficulties. Problem was I'm not going to school there, the professor transposed the r & e in the email based on my name Jeffrey. So I send him and the student the info, and apparently the kid wasn't aware of the new deadline and got his paper in on time.
I'm pretty sure the kid gets nudie photos meant for me occasionally too...so it's a major win win for him.

Well, I figure this would be a random act of kindness. A good friend of mine is struggling a bit to make ends meet. He's busting his balls trying to sell his business that he just couldn't keep running once the housing market crashed, trying to get going in insurance with his dad even though he really doesn't want to but, got bills to pay and a 1yr. old and a wife at home so he drives a limo at night just to try and keep his head above water. He aint got no money fer nuthin fun. Me and another friend decided to build a race car for him. He loves these things and would run them all the time if he could so, he bought the parts and I put in the time to do the conversion and body. Homeboy could use a break.
