Hello all,
I just ordered the new GPS based perfect pass pro for my 99' 21i. Anyone have experience with these? I heard the first versions were sluggish but they are now more responsive than the flywheel versions. Anyway, I am pumped about not having to screw around with throttle management for the summer. If anyone has installed this, I would appreciate hearing of any challenges or tips.
Thanks!

Usually you can compensate for sluggish response by increasing the sampling rates used to determine your speed/throttle response. The PerfectPass guys usually have great documentation on how to fine-tune your installation.

I had similar issues with the paddlewheel version once I started running with a lot of weight. However, but playing around with these settings and down pitching my prop, I got to an ideal setup that's been working like a champ for several years now.

Its very simple to install. Even for Mechanically throttled boat.

Now that its GPS there are no holes to drill, so that really helped simplify the process.

I will be installing the Drive By Wire version this spring.

I contacted the guys there and they are hooking me up with the necessary equipment to get it going. My '99 has the Merc 5.8 Ma MPI, not sure what the '96 has RL 987 but as Dogbert said the PP guys have a wealth of info on the subject. From what I undersand they can hook up just about any boat wth a system.

I would imagine just about anyone in the marine industry is highly motivated to make a sale right about now. I just purchased a double wakeboard rack, a wakeboard/surfboard combo rack and a tower mount mirror assembly from Bullet Ski Lines. All polished aluminum and got a smoking deal. I contacted their sales department directly and got just under 25% off. My contact there was a guy named Ken Land if anyone needs some swag for their ride. www.bulletlines.com
