That's blasphemy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How dare you!!??
Teak is SO incredibly rich and sexy. Yeah, yeah....you gotta spend a couple hours every other year making it look nice, but it's TOTALLY worth it. It's not like it's "TOUGH" work or something for crying out loud-- it's just one more reason to crack a cold beer and stand in the sun (while you oil it).
There is just something intangible and CLASSY about the Teak deck, I don't want fiberglass.....
Line-X a Teak deck you say....psshhhht No way!!
You're probably the guy who dips into the offering basket at church aren't you!!??
I'm just messing with you...;) kinda....

Wakeworker01,
Maintaining a teak platform is a piece of cake. If you want some real work come on over to my place and I'll have you cut and split six cords of firewood like I did over the last two weekends :D.
yep when i free up some extra coin im gona rhino line mine as well. Teak is an over rated pain in the arse and im tired of it.I have not seen 1 person who has done it and regreted it after the fact, only that they didnt do it sooner.

I'll trade you KKO,:D but a white fiberglass platform might not look that great on your grey boat. ;) I had a wooden sailboat with a little sign the original owner put on it, said "If god meant for fiberglass boats, he would have planted fiberglass trees" I really don't like maintaining teak, but something about it is just so nice, I have some teak on my fishing boat and have had several sailboats covered with it. If you might consider it give me a call or pm KKO, I'll have to clear it with the wife first.

Put the boat in the water and the teak swim step will look brand new before you climb aboard.
As for teak maintenance, that's why my wife birth'd two deck hands who finally grew up to be teenagers and ripe for such tortures. They wanna ride, they gotta work. Lord knows they have no gas money to kick in.

With all due respect, I don't believe that this is the most cost effective solution. :D:D:D

I am having my fiberglass deck done this year with that stuff. I just can't decide if I want to do the whole thing or just where the rubber pads are. The rubber pads provided by TIGE are 200 + dollars and they are currently all cracked out and messed up. Any thoughts as to if I should do the whole deck or just the where the pads are?

Just the traction pads SPBFan. But you can also go the www.wakejunky.com (aka gator grip) route also. ;)

Hey, you might consider using Gatorgrip for those inlays.

Been looking for transom saver for a while. All the stuff I found (gator grip, treadsafe, 3m stuff, and hydroturf) was either to expensive (way to much material) or needed to be spliced (gator grip).
Then finally I came across this stuff, it's a neoprene foam:
http://www.foamforyou.com/neoprene.htm
http://www.foamforyou.com/neoprene.JPG
It was cheap, a half sheet of it 21" by 71" at 1/4 thickness, was about $17-18 bucks shipped. Then you add another $20 for them to add the 3m peel off sticker stuff.
Had them cut a two strips of it 5" by 6' (free of charge) and still have about 11" by 6'. All for around $40 shipped.
It's solid with a rubbery feel to it. I think it would be great to replace the stuff on the fiberglass platforms. Plus you don't have to splice, the biggest plus IMHO.
Only really negative thing is there is only one color a dark charcoal. But it worked out perfect for my application.
I'll take a picture of the stuff on my boat later today.

Finally cut out my new traction pads for my platform. I had a large sheet of non stick gator grip. I used part for pads on my trailer fenders. Hopefully next time out to the boat I will get them installed. With the leftover will most likely add a transom saver

I had neoprene traction pads in my old boat. They became slippery when wet as they aged. Many people slipped on them in my old boat before I replaced them.
