Anyone seen these shots of John Winn's house in MI? Round lake in Charlevoix, MI. 4Winns boats made some money for him, that's for sure.

I amazed by how clear the water is, especially in the picture inside, you can see down perfectly clear 10 plus feet. I bet he had the lake drained and filled with distilled water. I would if I could.

Not even touching it!!!!

You can figure $700-$800K for the land, then that house is every bit of 10K sq. ft. from what I can see, and probably approaching the realm of $220 / sq. ft. to build AT A MINIMUM (this is what I specialize in, and that's about where I START on a comparable house.... then factor in that MI is a bit more expensive than us simple folk in OK). In all honesty I wouldn't doubt it's closer to the $300/sq ft. range.

As expected there's some pretty expensive things done on that house. Just some quick glances in the one room shows you that. That wool carpet in the living room is normally reserved for just a staircase runner due to it's cost. Rarely do you see entire rooms done out of it. It probably STARTING around $160/yd, that tongue and groove box car siding on the ceiling is running around $14 / board ft right now... so you do the math. Then add in the boat lifts. It all adds up very quickly. It's a very expensive house to build!

Just at a quick glance, and w/o looking at the rest of the trim work, or knowing the square footage, etc. I'm guessing that it's easily upwards of $2.8 mil.

That could be a 458 or a 408 docked outside. But yes, I figured there would be a normal runabout somewhere in there.

I do believe that is a larger 4 winns express cruiser docked outside. Notice the rib dingy in the corner of the boat house, probably goes on the back of the boat outside. I guess the property used to be a marina that he decided to buy when the owner put it up for sale. A couple of the other houses on the lake are equally or more impressive. There is one that is 28k square feet and has a 10k square foot boat house.

Here's the thread I am referring to, go to the second page.

For all we know it could be just a really big throw-together stick home. Down here in FL we see 2 mil homes built all the time (on the water), what kind of roof do you see? The cheapest 3 tab money can buy.

Its cheap to build big, and expensive to build quality.

That is only tax assessment. Might not be market value. In CAlifornia my home is assessed at $175,000 and it is a $450,000 home

mtnsmith

That is true, assessed does not always reflect market value, I guess that lake has direct access to lake michigan, I bet it might be worth a million more. There was another article about the designer and the homes/boathouses he has designed, sounds like the guy builds some pretty cool stuff.

The accomodations are provided for the lower and middle class. Some, but very few middle class "white collar" have property, very few. The difference between lower and middle class would be................the lower class have apartments provided "on site" (work grounds that is) and middle class gets bussed of to condo style living.

A Cobalt 250 is out of the question. That would be for the upper class only, typically business owner.

I'm sure going to miss my Cobalt!

You know it! I love boating with crumbs and ants...atleast I have a boat right now, I know I know, you're buying the wetsounds boat, just waiting on the banks...

Oh btw, just got an aluminum trailer from loadmaster, great price and they have a hoist to move the boat to the new trailer, you said you were going to get an aluminum trailer for the wetsounds boat, figured you might want to start buying it now for your march trip with the boat you don't have, since the banks take so long you know. ;)

As for Jason B....don't start with the BS. If you've never been to China, just leave alone or go to the Bayline BB.

mtnSmith, Yes, I'm having Rolls Axle (Dan) build my trailer. He fabs his own SS hub, and marries it with Kodiac SS rotor and caliper. Rolls has a "one off" spring design with a life time guarantee. The good side is he'll retrofit the wetsounds trailer to accompany the MC X45, giving me more potential buyers. I looked at the Loadmaster trailer and just didn't see any value. Dom knows a local Mfg who doesn't use "fastening" hardware for the frame, all joints are welded. Why didn't you go the LM route?

As for the crumbs and ants thing, Dom put me up to the whole thing. He knows how maticulous you keep your boat and asked if I would throw a jab on the BB just for kicks. As for the rusty trailer thing....I already experienced the same thing with the Cobalt trailer. After one season of use it had to be sand blasted and completley repainted.

BTW...thank you again for all your concerns and happiness on our next Tige purchase. I hope it sells a boat load of Wetsound systems for Dom. Do you ever go to Lake Seminole?

Don't believe I've ever claimed to be weathly or even rich. My house is a simple 3 bedroom home in a simple neighborhood, and I drive a simple Toyota Tundra, and have a Cobalt that cost about the same as a RZ4. I did mention that I was married to a very wealthy family during a marriage, however this does not in any way make myself personally wealthy.

As for Momma, she just recently passed away. Yes, she did overflow with love and hugs. She is dearly missed by her 4 children, husband 10 grand children and about 1000 other people that she touched. If my mother truly concerns you I'd be happy to share my personal cell phone and we could talk and share more.

I did go the LM route??? I'm confused by your question. The rolls trailer was more than double the loadmaster, and the road king from dom was nice, but also about double the price, I didn't see the value in either of them. I got kodiaks on the loadmaster, gotta love lifetime warranty on the brake pads.

I don't care for lake seminole, we've been a couple times, but it is too shallow to get a great wake, especially for surfing, and I'm kind of partial to saltwater. Tarpon is nice, but a bit of a drive.

You drive a silver tundra, steel wheels with the little engine? I've seen you on my way home.

Whoa! Double the price? Ok, then the arguement is a closed matter, a trailer is a trailer is a trailer. It's function is to serve as a means to an end. Steel is simply out of the question as we both know. The rolls comes in at $6500.00 what did the Road King price out at? The only reason I'm going with the rolls is cause I've contracted Dan (owner) for a large custom fab job and some of material cost of the trailer can be shifted, thus the cost of the Rolls will probably be closer to the cost you paid for the LM. If you have Kodiac brakes and an all alum trailer, then your headache is gone.

Whats crazy is Tim Whites Wetsounds trailer cost $7K and it's steel!

No, I have a light brown double cab tundra with alum wheels.

It took about 3 months to get the boys to go into Lake Seminole. They were scared of alligators. Now I can't get them (boys) out of Lake Seminole. I can't talk them into Lake Tarpon......reason: Alligators.

I was told you can't reason with an emotion if its fear based. So....I simply work on them a little bit at a time.
Its challenging and tiring, yet very rewarding.

As for salt water, it's my preference too, simply because of the scenery and the openness. We have two saltwater cove hangouts, one on the north side of Clearwater causeway, the other down in Redington, two coves north of the Maderia causeway, west side. There was never a problem with loud music on the Cobalt, but I have a feeling we'll have occational vistits from the Sheriff with the Wetsounds boat. This will be interesting.

The guys at Watersports West want to have a Wake Fest on lake seminole. He doesn't have Dom 100% on board with the idea (if I understand correctly). What say you? My suggestion was, If Dom's not interested then call the MC dealer up by you....Then call Dom back and see if he changes his mind. (IOW's, pull a Tucker) I think it's a great idea with the intent of bringing more "new" kids to the sport. (more the better?) The arguement with Tower Lake is it doesn't draw "new" business. As a business owner (unrelated to water or sports), I agree.

I told WSW (Water Sports West) I was aboard and they can use the WetSounds boat at their disposal for promotional purposes. My landlord also gave me the green light to errect a large sign off Ulmerton Rd to advertise the event.

I think the road king with ss kodiaks was going to run about 5800, I paid less than 3500 for the loadmaster, 2 sets of bunks, kodiaks on both axles, led lights. They are also real close to work so it was convenient for me to bring the boat to them and pick it up. I would support lake tarpon over anything else for some sort of "fest", nicest water, better park, and there's gators everywhere, one of the biggest I've seen up close was actually in lake seminole, in the grass beside the jet ski ramp, I guess don't tell your boys though. The other problem I have with lake seminole is the jet skis on weekends in the summer tend take over pretty good sometimes, would not be that calm. Tarpon probably won't be any better though. Tower lake would be the calmest, but no visibility and it's a haul to get up there.
