Maybe most you knew this but it was news to me. You cant run the boat out of water in gear. I have ran it several times with it hooked up to the hose with no problems but after adjusting the shift linkage I put it in gear. Holly !@#* it makes the most terrible noise. I guess the shaft support is lubed by water and if its not wet it will lock up on the shaft and tear off the boat! I shut it down before that happened and hit it with some silicone spray tried it agine and no more noise.:eek:

I guess that also explains when you turn the prop by had it makes a "scraping metal" sound. The first time I did this I thought something was wrong with my driveshaft or prop. I found out that someone on here said that was normal.
