This past fall I but my boat in the water after a couple month lay off and noticed after starting the boat the first time water poured out of the weep holes on what I think is the Water Pump on the Engine block - watching the temp the entire time as the temp reached operating levels the water sepage stopped. Was this the Block Pump re-priming itslef after the layoff or a bypass until the engine thermostat opens or is this an indication that the Engine block water pump is going out - I only have 60 hours on the boat but I have had it 4 years and have replace the freshwater pump.

the weep hole is disigned to tell you when a seal is failing inside the pump. we see alot of boats leak water there after a long time in storage. the seal dries up and allows water to pass through it. once it swells up again the leak stops.

keep an eye on it for more leaking. if it keeps leaking you will need to replace the pump.

it is really a good idea to run your boat once a month. it saves alot of headaches in the spring

THanks for the info - If the water in the garden hose will stop freezing I'll run it once a month (LOL)- you have no idea how good you have it in california...

thanks

not to be an ***, but today it is 82deg and not a cloud in the sky. problem is all of our lakes are closed due to the run off from all that rain we just had. our local lakes have all come up at least 5 feet.
