Everyone on this post is probably sick of hearing me talk about it...I have a new boat coming...soon...not much longer...dammit, it'll be a few more days...etc.
Well, today was the day to pick it up at The Boat Shop in Boulder City. We met Matt this afternoon, signed the papers, and took it out on the water for a quick familiarization dip (thanks, Matt!). Unfortunately, I did not have a chance to get any on-the-water pictures (don't worry - I'll take some this weekend and post them later). But, at least I can show off a few pics now of my new baby.
First, the specs:
-2009 RZ4 with the PCM 343 Excalibur 5.7L
-Alpha Z tower
-swivel board racks (not installed yet due to redesign)
-extended 8' bimini
-WetSounds components: XS-12 sub, (6) XS-650 cabin & bow speakers, SYN2 & SYN6 amp, WS-420 eq, and (2) Pro-60 tower speakers (waiting on the proper adapters to replace with Pro-80)
-transome stereo remote
-Sirius satellite radio
-dual batteries with isolator
-heater
-center bow cushion
-Extreme trailer
(no - I did not have ballast system installed - kinda regret that choice now :o )
Now, the pics:

Yes - this is the same color scheme as the RZ4 from Tige's website. We ordered it right after we saw the early release pics and before the new website was up. We had planned to get orange and white, but we loved the orange/graphite/white in the pics enough that we copied it.
Anyway, we are going to hit Lake Mead all three days this weekend. So I will upload some pics from the lake later. Also - we are planning to attend the Lake Mead reunion in Sept - so I hope so meet many of you there.
WOW, nice looking boat! CONGRATULATIONS!
Don't worry about the ballast, you can install one yourself with more lbs for less $$. Send SPBFAN a PM and check out my RZ2 and Coach's RZ2 ballast install.
I installed about 2000 lbs of ballast for around $2500.

I don't have a picture of it up yet - I should be able to post one after this weekend (although stormy weather prevented us from boating Sat  ). I thought that the standard bimini was 6'? Anyway - it is about a 2' extension that zips to the rear, and you use longer support posts.

That is one nice boat... Congrates

Depending on the weather we are. My buddy will probably have his Sea Ray out there and will probably be doing more chilling then riding the way the weather looks.

Anyone know how much the new ballast system will cost? I think it might come in pretty cheap...although I am sure the cost will be upgraded a bit to the consumer, but think about it. All the new ballast system entails is 2 built in hard tanks and a gate valve. Piece of cake to make.
Dingle,
The boat looks awesome! Great color scheme. I notice the vinyl seems very white...can the vinyl come in an eggshell type color instead?
Sahhhweeeet Ride! I could look at 100 more pics of that boat and still enjoy it.

Very nice toy. I bet with that single exhaust the boat runs much quieter than the ones with dual exhaust. I am certain that the PCM moves the boat through the water very smooth quick also.

when is the maiden voyage?
zad0030 you said the following: Single exhaust, PCM trait. I think MB sports and Mastercraft both have dual exhaust and use the PCM motor. Didn't tige have dual exhaust with PCM motor? In my opinion it would look a lot nicer with dual exhaust. To me the single exhaust looks weird. Does tige plan to go back to dual exhhaust?
da.bell
09-01-2008, 08:06 PM
No, IMO single exhaust is because of the cat converter that is CA mandated for all 2009 boats and I think the rest of the nation is requiring them next year.
dabell,
the malibu boats have a ETX/CAT (catalytic converter) on their 2008 boats and they have dual exhaust.

seeing how much catalytic converters cost nowadays, this might be a shortcut to keep costs down by using only one instead of two.

Spolk - well, I haven't gotten a shot yet of the bimini from outside the boat, but here is a shot of it from underneath - just a 2' extention that zips on the back, and you use longer support poles that push into the Alpha Z tower. One problem noted on our maiden voyage - during high winds, the zipper tended to start to unzip...one time the entire rear bimini almost ripped away when it proceeded to unzip very rapidly. :( Have to come up with a better way to secure it.

Tall - I don't know. Have to ask Matt. I thought that maybe the Mushroom vinyl scheme would be darker, but playing with the Build Your Boat feature, the little bit of vinyl that shows - I can't tell.
By the way - Tige - the website Build Your Boat needs to show a view in which the interior is more visible. :02:

when is the maiden voyage?
Saturday was too windy.
Sunday was too windy...but we did it anyway. Maybe a bad move, but we couldn't wait. I broke my cherry by taking my first wave over the bow. While at the dock to drop me off to get the trailer, not one but TWO boats bumped into ours. (As windy as it was, my wife was nervous to just putter around the launch area, so she tied up to the dock for five minutes.) But, at least theirs hit the rubrail at the bow of our boat...scratched their gelcoat but just left a colored streak on our rubrail. :D Due to winds, I was too nervous to get into the water with our camera for any on-the-water pictures. Coming later, I promise.
Monday morning was windy. By the time it died down and would have been a nice outing, it was too late as my wife had to get ready to work tonight. Next weekend...we are hoping. ;)

OK - Larry, here are a couple pics of the stereo setup. While the setup is essentially using "Tower of Power" components, some of it was installed by my dealer rather than the factory. So, I don't know if these locations are typical or not. WetSounds SYN6 and SYN2 amps are located in the storage area under the head unit, attached to the wall by the bow walk through.

Here is also a shot of the WS420 eq and the XS12 sub located under the dash.
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr239/authum1/DSC00778.jpg
Duncan - here are a few of the bimini with extension. It all connects to the Alpha Z tower up around the bimini level, with no straps or rods that come down. Very clean and out of the way. Also, my dealer fixed our problem of the extension zipper coming undone by installing a snap that holds the zipper in place. Simple and works great.

Last, I just thought I would show our reg numbers, which were painted this week. The numbers are black with grey shadow, and the top half of the numbers have grey speckles, with orange speckles in the top quarter or so. Pretty sharp looking, I think. Thanks, Matt! (By the way - the on-water pictures above were taken last week, thus no reg numbers visable on those)

It seems to me like the bimini would get in the way of the rope when pulling from the tower, or at least the rope would rub against the extended part of it. Do you have any problems with that?

It doesn't seem to get in the way. The rope is above the bimini, and it may rub a little (I haven't had a chance to really see yet, because so far I am either driving or boarding at the time). Time will tell if rubbing the top of the fabric is an issue.

Nope, my buddy's Malibu has the exact same extended bimini and it doesn't rub at all at wakeboarding speeds.
