Any tricks to get the Pro 80's to stop spinning when the tower goes down? There was no 1-7/8" insert so I had to use the 2". They are as tight as they can possibly get. I'm not into the idea of drilling the tower, I was hoping someone here has a brilliant idea to help me out. I'm tired of spinning them back.

What about installing a rubber insert then tightening them down?

I would check with Wet Sounds, I thought that they had an adapter for different tower tube sizes.

I would put a layer or two of black electrical tape under the clamp, that will likely get you to a close to 2" diameter tower and then clamp them on there. I bet that will give enough grip to stop your spinning.

Did you install these yourself? The set I installed has a pair of thin adhasive type film strips that are probably for just this!

X2. It is like a hard plastic about 1/8" thick adhesive strips you can put them on in layers as needed and they can be used with the rubber inserts provided by WetSounds.

Jason B,

You need to use one size smaller insert. Do not worry about what the size says if there is not an exact size as they are just a guide. Hold the insert up to the tower. There should be a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch gap. On the inserts. Then take the clamp. If you have the right insert. You should barely be able to start the bolts. As you will have to squish the inserts to get them going. Once you have the bolts going. Use a criss cross pattern, top left, bottom right, top right, bottom left and so on. Use a big T Handle allen tool. A universal tool will not work so well.

Once you work them. You should get the clamps all the way tight. The inserts should still show a gap. That is where the compression comes from. So if your inserts are touching, you have too big of an insert.

Yes, we include some rubber strip tape that adds some surface area for some of the in between sizes. Some need it and some do not.

Also, this is for the current clamps. I am assuming you have the older 80's. We just started shipping the new PRO 80's this week with the new stainless clamps that are completely different. So let me know as that is a different install a little.

I used the black protective cover thing-that's now all bunched up from the repeated twisting. I'll try the 1.5" spacer without the black strips and see what happens. If those don't work I'll try the electrical tape route and go from there.

Thanks for your inputs.:ro:
