I know there have been threads like "If Tiges didn't exists which boat would you own" but I wanted to narrow it down even further. If you couldn't have a Tige, would you rather be in a Mastercraft or a Malibu?

I could do either one. Some things I like on one better than the other and that goes for both of them, they are both fine boats. Happy with my tige` for now though............ The only thing I wish my tige had was the fuel economy of my prior boat.

Since we are not real hard-core boarders, it would not be the brand with the best wake, except for maybe surf wake though, got have a great one. There is not much about the MC's that I really like......looks, seating, too much bling, They just dont do anything for me, kinda like the hefty, zit faced brace-face in school, she may have made the best girlfriend, etc, but kinda hard to get bast the looks :D

X45. I actually really like the helm in the Bu, but that's it. Well, that and their customer service from the factory. Top notch from what I understand. Other than that, I've tried to surf several new Bu's and I can't stand 'em. That is the ugliest surf wake I've ever seen. I hate that stupid tower. The 21xti handles pretty good, but I don't like the way the 23's handle. Super thin hulls as well. They have really nice wakeboarding wakes, but I could care less. Just not very impressed with them over all.
I've never even been in any MC of any kind although I was seriously considering buying an X9 before I found my tigger. Kind of funny considering I've been on the water all my life. Just worked out that way. Thank God I didn't. Those things are tiny. The X45 does impress me with its lay out and overall appearance (except that ridiculous looking dash and jenky tower).
So I guess if I had to choose between the two, Supra.

I have too many issues with both of those- Malibu: cheap carpeted seat bases, poor fuel economy, wedge. MC: horrible local dealer, and my impression is the quality is slipping badly. I looked at several new ones in a showroom last week and the vinyl stiching was very poor on every one. Right now I would have to go with a Nautique.

That's tough. I really like the look and wake of Malibus but cant stand that I hit my head on the Illusion tower. I also cant stand that every boat on any lake up here is a Malibu.
MC's are nice as well especially the interiors but the cost is something I couldn't swallow. If money wasn't an option it would probably be MC, maybe an X-star, wait...don't I have one of those already! LOL. :)
Do not have to get the illusion tower from Malibu!

I agree with Matt, too many Bu's on the lake. Although the surf wake I saw behind one last weekend was amazing, I was jealous. I like MC Xstar the best but they are way too pricey, I could not afford one. So that leaves me with Supra, and I really like the 08's graphics and an overall boat. Of course, I would have to test drive them all before making a decision and get the scoop on the dealers. But yeah, Supra, I could see myself with one of those.

That was one of the main features of the Supra that turned me off, they were on the lost of 3 when we chose the Tige. I would look at them again, before the 2 choices in this thread:02:

IMHO, Bu's are paper tigers, and the thin wall construction, really bothers me. The wedge seems like a headache, all though I am sure they've worked to fix this. The MC is way to much money for what you get. I wouldn't buy either one. Supra throw sic wakes, GREAT surf wakes too, so that is my choice, if Tige wasn't around at all. Or a SIC, sacked out Basstracker! Give me a Skeeter with ton in the floor-hello.

I would consider the SANGER 237 before the supra. From what I have heard about the surfwake, and I have been around sanger boats all my life. My dad built racing engines for boat and land drag racing. Always liked the look of the sanger flat bottom over the hondo. Save a lot of money over the MC.
I couldn't consider sanger before, they didn't even have a 23. I don't think I could go down from a 24' boat, my specs when I got the tige was 16 passenger capacity. But the 237 is close, getting there.

If I didn't own a Tige, I'd go for their Gravity 24 SSV. That boat has a killer layout and my favorite tower/bimini. It's got the Bennet Trim tab on the back and the hull is probably closer to a Tige than anything else. I've never surfed one of these, so I'd want to try that before committing, but based on what I know of the other boats, that's what I'd do.
After that would be the X-Star, but I hear the surf wake sucks (according to a former Tige owner that now owns an X-Star).

The 247 surf wake can be legendary with a lot of weight. The wakeboarding wake is terrific. Be prepared to use lots of gasoline. At Powell, my buddy and I used our boats about the same then filled up. He put in 50 gallons and I put in 30 gallons.
I can't even get behind an X-35 unless I ink a sales contract. So how can I be expected to buy one? Poor sales tactic, IMHO.
Supra is about completely retarded the way the front playpen locks the driver in. I sat in it at a show for 15 seconds and tried to like it, but walked away very disappointed. A guy with long legs is going to be very uncomfortable after a day of climbing in and out of the driver's seat.

I and one other Tige owner are the only ones in our group without an MC. I am impressed with the quality of the interior, tower and the quality of the regular side surf wake. However, not a one of them throws a decent goofy side surf wake. This is a problem for my goofy self.
Knowing what I know now, my next purchase (if not a Tige) will depend on the quality of the goofy side wake(among other things). If the dealer won't take me out for a demo surf ride, there will be no purchase.

I had a chance to surf a new Supra 22ssv last year and it was very nice with stock ballast. I'm also a huge fan of the play pen bow, tower, Z5 bimini and overall looks of the boat. The only thing I don't like is the throttle position. It's way too low. That and the dealer here is asking 8+grand more for a base model 22ssv over a loaded 22Ve.:bs:

My neighbor just got a MC X-2 and a supplemental ballast system, it throws a mad wake for hydrofoiling. Better than my tige 21v, the wake is sharper, not larger. The overall quality of the constuction is way way better. Th evinyl is twice as thick and the gauge set up is definately bling bling. Not for everyone I guess, but the thought put into the X-2 is quite noticable. The tower can even handle my sky ski with a little mod.

The EPIC throws a great WB wake, but I hear horrible surf wake, that makes it no go for me.
The hoffmans have one, and I see it all the time up close, the rear speakers seemed cool on the brochure and website, but in person, I like em on the tower better.
Now having up to 4k of ballast would be cool, but not if I couldn't surf it.

I don't really get all the "who copied who" talk on any of the boat boards anyway...visit an MX site and nobody gives a sh!t who used EFI or steering dampers or rising rate linkage first. You know what I like about Tige....even if they are taking designs from other companies, they are taking the best ones and putting them all together to make one boat that is absolutely flawless. Yeah I like the pickle fork design mastercraft has, but i don't like their dash or graphics. I'm sure tige wasn't the first boat with a built in cooler, but they have it and I don't see people saying they ripped that off too. Tige is simply taking other designs and improving on them. Tige also wasn't the first company to have a v-drive or a tower on their boat, some things just become industry standard and the second company that follows always gets the greif, not the third company :02:

I looked at the Four Winns at the Chicago boat show. I was really excited to see it since they really advertised it heavily. It was a disappointment. I thought Four Winns was one of the better quality manufacturers out there? Poor quality IMHO with the details and vinyl. I did like the concepts that they "borrowed" from the other boats, seems like it was well thought out using the best ideas from many sources. It was a pretty good example of borrowing.
