I just replaced the bunks on the trailer. Whew, that was close. Definitely time to change them. All bolts rusted, all wood rotted. Something to think about for you old timey Tige owners.
Special thanks to Ryan at Custom Boat & Marine for helping me out on his day off. I would have been screwed had I tried to do this this at the lake. You da man RG.

Been there, done that. I actually put my boat in the pond on my property to replace mine. That worked out good. The boat lift would have been much better.
I think it's pretty cool to be an Old Timey owner. :ro: :ro:
just cover 2 center bunks 2 wks ago. Still got to do the 2 outside bunks. I can do that when do at the lake for a wkend.
Hey Nicky, it is glad to see you back. You were go for awhile.:ro:

I had to replace 2 of my bunks already. We've been riding more during the week and that means we're loading/unloading 2-3x what we used to. I'm anticipating more replacements in the future.

Nicky,
What's the brand of Tower you have on your boat.?Add's a nice look to your boat and looks solid. I am pricing a few right now for next year getting rid of my old metcraft "Shimmy, shake and rattle tower''.

It's a BOSS Billet. It is very solid and in my opinion looks pretty good. BOSS, however, is long gone. I saw one at the PWT stop that looked very similar to it though, but I can't remember the company. I'll see what I can find.

Apparently BOSS is still around, but I doubt they make that tower anymore. To tell you the truth, it's a PITA tower to take down. When it's up, it's fantastic. For the money, you could get just about any tower out there loaded up with everything you need.

I pulled out of the gas station monday with my trailer (boat was on the lift) and something was bouncing around back there and couldnt tell what it was, looked back and noticed that one of my bunks was laying on the axles, what a joke, i bought the trailer less than a year ago and was brand new, it was all rotted out and had to sink some bungs to get the screws to grab, what a joke.
Why couldn't you had done it at the lake?

'cuz I bet he didn't have a driver to wait on him to do the repair. Plus he's in Nevada where it's hotter 'n hell this time of year. Most boat ramps don't have place to park a boat while you're working on your trailer.

Why couldn't you had done it at the lake?
Couple of reasons actually. First off, new baby. I wasn't about to leave my wife and baby floating around for God knows how long while I monkey around with the bunks. Second, last trip out last year, one end of one of the bunks fell off it's mount and I had to rip the strap off of my binoculars to tie it back on. The bolt was completely rusted and the bunk completely rotted. I wasn't about to waste an entire day at the lake standing at the hotass boat ramp trying to break rusted bolts off. Went to the shop, stuck it on the lift, broke out the air wrench, speed wrench (sledge hammer) and vise grips and had the boat back on the trailer in just over an hour. Bang zoom. Boom done.:D

Mid 90's are cool for around here. Once it gets over 100, then it's hot. Not Arizona hot, but still pretty hot.

I know it's crazy but that's what they are meant to do.
I'm only asking because I need to change mine out soon and am wondering if I can do it at the lake....

I gotta change mine too. With my old boat, I just put it in the water and anchored it just off shore where I could still see it and walk out to it. Then did the bunks in the lot.
My Tigé trailer needs em now too. Prolly have to do the same thing. The trick is to make sure you know what you are getting into before you start. I've already done a lot of crawling around under the trailer in the driveway to see whats there. I've measured the bunks etc and plan to have them all carpeted and ready to go so all I gotta do is pull the old off and bolt the new ones on. (yeah I know its never that easy)
Unlike Nick, I don't have a shop nearby where I can get it off the trailer, so i gotta do it the old fashioned way :)
I've got several shops nearby, just scared of what they will charge me to do it:eek: so will probably be doing the old fashioned way as well:cool:

Well, it's called the Billet but I doubt they still make it. For the money I spent to have it built, you could have a shiny new Samson. Besides, BOSS is out of Sacremento Ca. Do you really want to drag your Tige across the country?
