I have a 20v that is docked in a very rough area on the lake and waves are constanly keeping the fiberglass swim platform soaked. When getting into the boat after stepping on the rubber, black marks are being left on the upholstery. Anyone have this problem and know of any kind of spray or coating that can be put on the platform to help? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You need to scrab it with a vinyl scrub brush or cover it up... :02:
Ops, that should be nylon brush.

agreed. clean the platform real good. For the vinyl, there are loads of threads on good cleaners. I like to use the Magig Erasers and then a product called Excuisite (can find it on eBay)

The black is usually a result of ozone causing the rubber to oxidize. Clean it with a medium to stiff brush and mild to strong cleaner like Simple Green, and then keep it covered when not in use.

Aren't some of you guys stripping the black stuff off and putting down Gator Grip?

I have not had any issues with the original black stuff but I am going to put gator grip down because it is softer and I had a large sheet of it.

Pull it out of the water and cover it up when you're not using it.

There is a thread on here, with a how to, on replacing their traction pad with Gator Grip.
It was good! I just don't have time right now to look it up.

I just had this one made by Seadek in Florida and it blows away everything else! Super cushy yet tough and looks awesome.
