I've had 2 or 3 big guys on mine...probably a total of 700-800 lbs.

Our rule of thumb is no more than 2 people at a time on the platform. It's worked well so far.

One time we had myself, my wife, and three of our kids on my brother-in-laws 2003 21i platform and it collapsed underneath us. the two supporting brackets buckled completely and the swim deck was at a 45 degree angle downward into the water. After that, no more than two on my own 21i.
Im with dog. about 800 or so. Ive had 4 people on my platform with no problem....

My swim platform has 3 brackets and they appear to be over-engineered like the rest of my boat (or maybe I ordered the heavy-weight package?). :ro:

I also have 3 brackets on mine, I know I have had 4 or 5 people on mine before with no problems.

I think that they went from two to three around 2004 or so. I you have a boat that is 2003 or older, beware. The brackets will buckle and your swim platform will become a slide.

I think you actually have it backwards. Tige went from a two piston TAPS plate to a single plate circa 2003. Whent they went with a single piston, there was no longer a place for the middle bracket. Being the geniuses that they are, they just eliminated it, assuming that 2 was plenty. After a few breaks, they then made the remaining 2 brackets a little stronger. So the newer models around 03 and 04 have a slight tendency to break. I have not heard of any swim platform breaks lately. My 2002 was much like Dog's, the brackets were extremely stout, and there were 3 of them.

Hey, don't knock the fat chicks, they are a wakesurfer's best friend (although I prefer Alvie because chicks apparently are all over him).

Iowa corn fed I've got picture now. (never mind):D
I went to school @ ISU. We would run the railroad tracks at night for fun
A nova wheel base is the same as the tracks:D
It's the street crossings that make you tighten up a bit.:ro:

I'm sure that you're right about the number of brackets, the point that I was making was that pre 2004 (approximately) there was a design flaw wherein these brackets would buckle. When I mentioned how many people where on the swim deck, I failed to mention that our three kids were our three youngest (and smallest). We didn't have any more weight then three adults. When I was buying my boat, I brought this issue up to every dealer and each stated that that was corrected in the subsequent year. So the bottom line is (at least in my opinion) if you have an older boat, be careful.

On our 06 24Ve, we limit it to three adults...and no jumping! We found that several of the younger riders hanging with the wrangler family found that they could kind of "spring board" off the back using the step and jumping down from the seat! No more of that...

Don't be shy everyone knows one or two, or for sure your wife does. Then you have to let them on.

Just curious, how do you let those "heavy people" know that they are required to sit over the bracket?

He's probably got a sticker on the back of his boat with a picture of shamu with that red circle with a line through it. :D

actually if it is the brackets you are worried about breaking and not the platform itself, then i sugguest sitting towards the middle so that the weight is spread over two brackets and not concentrated on 1:02:

Has anyone towed their boat with a row of filled gas cans strapped to the swim platform?

I'd be worried about them scratching the boat or platform.
That said, we have strapped them to the boat while driving it up river for an all-day excursion up river where we had lake lice (jet skis) our party.

I never sit on my platform. When I climb back in the boat I always use the well suppported sections:ro: Lead by example and when that does not work I pull out I am the captain of the boat:D
