Z1 Ballast

I have a Z1 with no factory ballast. I ride behind a '06 XStar as well as mine but am very disappointed with my wake now that i am used to his boat with 1,000# of ballast. Anyone have some suggestions on how much weight in Fat Sacs I should be purchasing? Had 1080# from my buddy and had an incredible surf wake but not so good wakeboard wake. Any help would be much appreciated.

A couple of Fly High V-Drive sacs and a Fly High Integrated Bow sac and you'll be all set. I have a 21v (older model) and it's plenty big.

I may have measured wrong, but i thought the v-drive sac was too long for the Z1 compartment (Sac: 42")

That's the nice thing about the sacs, they don't have to fill up all the way.

The X-Star is a 22+ foot boat, but I cant find how much more it weighs then the Z1. X-Star comes with 1K lbs of ballast, Z1 ballast is nearly 900lbs.

I would go with a pair of the 400lb V-drive sacs in the rear, and the factory bow sac for the front as it is a better fit and you will have less unused sac then with the Fly-Hi bow sac :02: This will give you about 1100-1150lbs.

The Fly High V-Drive sacs are 400 lbs each, but I think they actually hold more.

If your interested I have some BNIB sacs I'm about to post up in the classifieds.

I had intended to use them but never did, and now the 09' has in floor ballast so I won't be using them.

I use the factory ballast in mine. Just be careful adding too much weight to the rear of the boat. With the factory tanks they make about 500 in the back and the front i would guess is around 300. That hull makes the boat bounce a lot and I usually add another 500lbs sac in the front so I can get the taps up to make a lippy wake.

Better yet, does anyone know if you can retrofit the new inboard ballast system to older years???

Retrofitting in floor ballast.... not w/o MAJOR cutting involved.... so no.

Installing the old factory ballast.... yes... but why would you want to? There's much better options. Like the rival system for one. The factory system uses hard tanks and you lose all your storage.

^^^ Dont know, I heard/read, that they are not doing them anymore. Doesnt matter, you can put your own together for less then 1200 including sacs.
