As fathers day is coming tomorrow I thought I would remind us all what life is really about. Family! I have had a very busy month and have not had a chance to share my Lake Powell story. In the last week I have sent my German exchange student back home, he was with us for 10 and a half months. Great kid, we will miss him a ton. I also sent my son off to Italy for the next 2 years. We went from a family of 5 to 3 in 6 days. As I have spent time reflecting on the last year or even the last 19 years, I am very glad I spent the time with my family that I have. A month ago we were at Lake Powell. http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii73/4funx/Powell08276.jpg
We left on a Wednesday night and 8 hours later we arrived and Thursday was pretty windy, but for our first time out we fought the chop and made the best of it. That night I had to leave and return home for a mandatory work thing, 16 hours of driving for a 45 minute meeting. Anyways Friday the family went out and had a great day at the lake. http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii73/4funx/Powell08283.jpg

I got back down Friday night and had dinner with the family. Saturday the boys talked the girls into an early morning to get butter for our last day. Why the crap do I tell you this. Well without the background the next pictures would have made the whole day a bust.

For those of you that haven't changed your impellar, DO IT. I had not and had every intention of getting to it. Anyway at least I had one with me Thanks to Andrew. I spent 2 hours doing it at the dock, it's a 15 to 20 minute job if you know what you are doing. Well at least we had the time and got it done. The last day was glass all day and we played until we couldn't any more. The other great part about the story is at least when it completely went it was while we were headed out of the marina. The day before it could have been dissasterous as my wife and son would have had no clue. They could have siezed stuff or been stranded, anyway I think prayers are answered and my wife was seriously praying all would be okay as I was away. Enoungh of my long winded story. Back to the pictures.
This is the take off to my boys favorite trick, I have no clue what it is. Kind of a backroll tantrum thing, but the board gets way out behind him.

This is mid trick.

Here is the landing, well sort of. He did not land it this trip.

I know he really wanted it bad, but not in the cards this trip. I hope after 2 years he doesn't have to learn all over.

This last pic is of what happens when you have to much $$$$, check out the banner. I wish I had rich parents.:D

Now the short version, spend the time you can with your kids, they won't be around forever.

Sorry so long, but at least I posted pics.

Oh and to all the dads out there, Happy Fathers Day!

The boy is stuck between a 360(with no handle pass) and a backroll(while looking the wrong way). Needs to look up and left to do backroll. In the pic he is looking back, which is causing him to spin.

Maybe he should just let go with that left hand and throw that handle over his head with the right and get the Ole 360.

Where in Germany was your exchange student from? We have had 5 exchange students from Germany, 1 from Austria (just sent her home), and 1 from Hungary. We have made three trips to Germany to visit "our" children; which is what they become after 10 months.

You mean your guys parents didn't buy you a helicopter either? Wow.

You should have bummed a ride in that thing instead of driving 16hrs;)

It was back in Warm Creek Bay, I don't think it will look like that again for a while now that the cut is open. The cut off being open is great for getting up the lake, but it is going to kill the glass that we have had in the bay.

Dortmund, he was our second exchange student from there. We are going to see them in 2010 for a couple of weeks. It is a great experience sharing our culture with others.

It would not surprise me if some parts of Warm Creek stay very good, or even better. Now that the cut is open, I feel good about traveling farther up the lake. After getting beaten in the channel, I was ready to quit and Warm Creek looked good, so that is where we went a few trips ago.

Looks like you also took some pictures down navajo canyon. I recognize the breadloaf rock. I also recognize the floating toilet in Warm Creek. We drop people off there, ski and board others, pick up and drop off, and continue all morning long. Fun times.

I think you are right on Navajo, that was the day I got to work, lucky me. My sons is always first after hitting the floater, he loves to dry start off it. So far he has always made it away clean, pun intended.

Changing the impeller will only take you 10 minutes now. I am making my son do it this year. He is grumbling the whole way through it. I am sure if he ever gets caught in that situation he will be glad I taught him.

If that one came apart it could have caused you more problems than just a blown impeller. I am glad you caught it before it came completely apart.

One last thing I am positive you are thankful you were able to send you son to Italy for two years not everyone is worthy for that call. Congratulations for getting him to that point in his life. I have one who is 15 right now and he is struggling as we all do to find out if he wants to go when he is 19 or not. I am certain he will we just have to help him along the way. Make sure to tell your wife congratulations also that is one of the best and emotionally worst moments for the wifes.
