For those of you who dont know. I spent the entire day and last night rewiring my stereo with 1/0 gauge wire and added a more power full amp to make all 3 the same. I also added my kinetik at this time and an isolator.

long story short. I got finished.....almost. I had everything done except tightening down the wires on the isolators posts, when I decided that I would put in the batteries and hook them up. then went to tighten up the isolators wires and what would you know......I shorted onto the engine block with my wrench.

my question is what fuse did I blow or circuit breaker did I trip? I checked as many as I could find but the boat still doesnt have power at the key.

what do I do?

thanks in advance ;)

Doubt these motors still use a fusible link, but maybe a maxi fuse??

The good thing is that you are taking your boat to chpthril so he can help you also. :ro: Sorry, I can't help anymore.

Check to see if you have the 90 amp fuse at the starter. That will shut everything down. I know from experience.

On my previous boat I had a similar condition occur, not by shorting a wrench between the engine and battery, but something happened and I didn't have any power at all, nothing in the engine bay worked, could'nt start the engine. There was a main breaker or something like that on the back side of the engine with a reset button, the button was read and it had 50 embossed into it. So I guess it is a 50 amp ckt breaker, once I discovered that button, I pressed it and wha la, everything was working again. I don't think I have seen anything like that on my tige, but I also haven't had the need to go looking for it either. That is how I discovered it on my previous boat, the nothing working condition sent me looking for a cause.

Good luck!

Look around for a main Breaker with a red button, that's probably what you popped when you decided to arch-weld with a Craftsman :D

How about the 80 amp breaker off the perko switch?

Guest

Did you buzz the 90 amp thermal link on the main run to the batteries or isolator. It is a flat black device typically screwed to floor. Disconnect Hot end and ohm it out.

Before you disconnect check voltage across it and should be 0. check voltage on side towards battery or perko and should have 13.6vdc measured from it to ground on engine block.

Disconnect Hot end and ohm it out. Should be about 0 ohms.

I have had my run in with that big red circuit breaker reset button. I replaced my alternator and the one I took off was an automotive not marine. So when i got the new one I hooked everything up and still had one stud left that didn't have any symbols or anything to tell what it was. I also had one leftover purple wire, and the schematics said that the purple wire went to the alternator so I hooked it up. Boat ran fine till I got back to the dock and it wouldn't turn off. Pulled the keys out and the engine was still chugging. Since the purple wire was the only one I had questioned I pulled it back off and the boat die. Went to try and start it again and had nothing. Found that breaker and reset it but it just kept tripping. Apparently that purple wire was a ground and I hooked it up to a Pos. on the alt. and melted every wire in my wireharness and looms to ground. Spent the next 4 hours rewiring the entire harness and loom. Fun day that was.

ok so found the problem. there was a black wire that was hooked to ground( which would make sense), but it needed to be hooked up to the positive side of the battery. Now I have a new problem.

when ever I hook up that wire to the positive side I can turn the key and everything powers up but when the key is off the red warning light and a warning tone are going off the entire time it is hooked up.....

whats my problem now? oh and the stereo still isnt working.....

We got it figured out in about 30 mins and got it all fixed right.........and it wasn't CP3's fault :p :D

The power for main relays and breaker, on top of the engine, is tied into the alt output wire some where in the main engine harness. When CPS pulled the alt wire off the starter lug and relocated it to the new battery Iso, the breaker/relay block lost power.

Fix: cut 12v feed wire to breaker/relay block, and laid in new wire down to the starter lug so the relay/breaker block is receiving power as before.

:ot: while he was here we finished up the W/S-XXX box and set it up in his boat and wired it up. With absolutely no tuning at all, this thing was POUNDING :ro: :ro: :ro:

This one 12" has more bass, boom, bump, rumble, etc, then the CC230 in our showroom with 4 Rockford 12's :ro: :ro: :ro:

I'll post pics soon, as this will be going in my boat for our Tige Owners Day next weekend.

thanks for the help chp.

and that bass was kicking. never heard that much come out of one subwoofer....

I think I do have a loose battery connection some where....when I go back thru my own wake or any wake the PP shuts off and so does the rpm gauge but they both cut right back on......
