alternator question

The alternator on my 1999 2200V went out this weekend. I need to know what is the part number so I can replace it. I have the 315hp Merc.

there are 2 different alternaors for your boat,

1. delco p/n# 862031t this one has cooling fins in alternator housing.

2. mando p/n# 807653t this one has the cooling fins built into the pulley.

should run between $250-$340.

How do I know which one I need? Or will both work?

only one will work.

look at the old one and compare it the discriptions i gave you above.
or, remove it and take to a shop.
or, post a picture and i'll tell you.

Auto Zone sells rebuilt alternators at a reasonable price. However, you can have yours rebuilt for less than $100 and in most cases back to you in a couple of days.

Turns out the alternator is fine it was a broken red wire....
