View Full Version : To the 20V Haters, it can be done! Surf it Up!

Thought I'd have some fun, aftering reading quite a few posts on here that don't necessarily slam the 20V as a surf boat, but don't give it any credit at all. We've had ours in the water twice now and have had a blast on it. With a recently dislocated shoulder this hockey season, my wakeboard/waterski season ended before it began, so thank god for surfing. I was gonna hate being the driver everyday, all day. Anyways thought I'd post a pic from last weekend of an extremely rookie surfer(so go ahead and slag away), but here was the setup: Zero ballast, Taps @ 5, 1/2 tank of gas, 3 people on board. I'm gonna jump right up and say, the wake's no bad considering the setup or lack there of. So to the non believers, this proves that Tige makes good surf boats in all sizes and that you don't have to drop the big bucks on all the ballasts & bags if you're just learning & getting started. I'm sure we will progress to that point, but right now the plain ol' 20V works great for us!
Have a great weekend guys! Enjoy the boats & the water!

It was from a camera phone and it may be because he was shooting into the sun. Not sure exactly why it turned out like that(I probably should considering my degree in cinematography, just haven't used that knowledge in ten years). All the others turned out normal. Gives it a little blue hawaii look tho.
AWESOME!! I tried surfing behind mine for the first time last weekend (first time behind the boat, and first time surfing). Wasn't able to go "rope-less" but had a great time anyway. Any idea how long the rope you used was? I'm thinking I was to far back.

I have surfeed for 2 years behind my 20V factory ballasts and 5-9 people on board and we consistently have a long waist high wake surfable all day long.

This might be a good time to bring up that you Don't want to use a standard wakeboard or ski handle. If you do, you are risking serious injury.

If you don't have a wakesurf rope, you can make one from an old wakeboard rope that looks like this:

by cutting off the handle to get this:

It is good to know you can learn if you want on a no ballast 20V. If I get away from cluster headaches this year I have either option to try to get on ragboy's list or try w/o fat sack.
Sweet :D :D :D

They dropped the rope or fell and the handle wrapped around their limbs. It's a bad deal because the boat doesn't exactly stop very fast.
Trust me, you don't want to surf with a regular wakeboard rope handle.
Don't do it!

For 40 bucks you can buy a surf rope. Its worth the money of a hurt limb

when yall use ballast to wake surf do yall fill the fron too or just the back
I would like to ask, I bought a surf rope but it has a small handle that looks just like a ski rope. It is mark as a wakesurf rope but could this be a problem also? I can take pictures tomorrow night. My rope looks just like this one.
