Here are a few pictures I thought I would share. I wasn't able to take pictures of everyone since I was either driving or my battery died but I think I was still able to capture a few. You can view the rest here, http://www.78republic.com/riding/2008/

Dude, I would NEVER get my wife in the water with snakes in there. I would probably have to give my kids a $20 to get in each time.

Do they every bite anyone? Those are water mocassins, aren't they?

Hahaha...reminds me of the first time we went their years ago. It was my wife and I and she saw a huge water moccasin when she was pulling me. She vowed never to get in that water. Looks like she got over that fear.

I couldn't tell what kind of snake the first one was it was about 75 yards away from the kids swimming on the beach. Luckily the boat next to us let us know since we had three small ones in the water. The picture above, not sure what kind that is, its not a water moccasin though. I have never heard of anyone getting bit by a snake there.

That's a water snake. Completely harmless.

So are catfish, but one time we were in a cove, and my wife was in the water. A large 30" or so catfish was swimming right on the surface and came close to her and she saw it. The kids were yelling from the boat, FISH, ITS A BIG ONE, over and over. I was trying to get them to shut up, but they were in a frenzy. Amy walked on water. Now if that was a snake.... I don't even want to imagine. Staying in California man. ;-)

But again we have sturgeon fish that will cut the crap out of you if they hit you.

catfish can sting the crap out of you also. ;)

Nice pictures Matt. Looks like there was a lot of fun going on and the water level was low. How close to the shore was that?

Thanks. The water level is usually really consistent, it was about average level. It can ran anywhere from 3 ft to about 20 ft depending on what part of the river you are on.

Did you mean the snake? If so it was in the middle of the river when we saw it. Probably crossing it.

No, you answered the question. The snake was probably swimming from one side of the river to the other. Probably wouldn't bite anyone unless you were in it's direct path. :02:

We have deer crossing our water way, not snakes or gators. ;-)

I'd rather have snakes than gators any day. A buddy of mine moved to Lake Mary, FL and his family refused to get in the water. He hardly ever used his Tige. So, then he buys a beach house in Datona Beach and guess what, sharks. We went to visit and I noticed them out in the surf. The water was pretty well stirred up, so I told the kids they had to stop boogie boarding. They were bummed, but I didn't want to take the chance because a bull shark will make a mistake and bite your leg looking for other fish in the surf.

It's always something. Snakes are usually not that aggressive, but water moccasins are the most aggressive. We don't see them very often in our lakes.

BTW, great pics!

hehe, exactly.......

We do have Rattlesnakes in Eastern Oregon, but I understand that they cannot attack while swimming? I've been told this and would prefer if no one correct me if this is in fact an incorrect statement.;)

I would prefer if I never see another snake in my life. Seriously:D

Great Pics Matt! My 4yr old love to jump off the side of the boat. He has graduated from the platform, now he wants air:ro:

Matt,

You have a Z2, right? Is that the new RZ2 platform your daughter is jumping from?

Is that a "..PRA" I see on the back of the boat?

Nice pictures, That is some HUGE air you got!

Ha, you hit the nail on the head, I was wondering what you-all had against snakes and big fish, I dealt with those as a kid. Now I get to play with the big boys, sharks and gators. I can't wait to go down near everglades city this summer and deal with american crocs! Even nastier:ro: Atleast I'll be getting paid to get in the water with those big boys.:D

Excellent family fun pics though!

Just wishful thinking i guess :ro: :ro: :ro:

No, you see this whole conversation about "would you rather" is ridiculous. Would I rather get bitten by a Croc or a Rattlesnake, is like asking if I would rather get my foot smashed by a 1ton boulder or a 2 ton boulder....how about NEITHER!!!!!!

stupid reptiles........

and stupid spiders........

and stupid killer bees........

I'd love to ask God why these things exist, why not make cute and cuddly snakes and spiders, that carry no poision and love humans........

We have Nutria that are not native and basically are large rats that devour vegetation here in the Northwest. They are more of a problem than the cute little Beavers. :D

Looks like a lot of fun! You need some red hawaiian punch to wash those cheetos down. ( Yes I have had cheetos and punch on my boat - so don't everybody start on the food Nazi - I still don't like cleaning it up:mad: :D )

Ragboy, seeing a deer cross the water is always interesting. I've only seen it twice where they were out in the deep water swimming. Took me a minute to figure out what it was. Hitting one of those on a dark night would be a rude awakening.

I've seen them swimming in Shasta everytime I'm there. You are right though, hitting one would be a quick wakeup!

Also, thanks to all who post up their early season riding pics. I'm living vicariously through you all. I've been out a few times, but I haven't been getting out consistently yet. Matt, those pics are sweet. How long of line are you running at? I need to get my line length figured out. Didn't bother on the first run bc I realized all our lines and handles were left in the old boat which is in storage. I ended up making a handle out of pvc and a dowel rod and hooked it to an old ski rope I had lying around. Not the greatest setup, but it worked. Keep the pics coming. I'll ad some as soon as I get back out. Dying to use the new camera

The line length was 75ft at about 23mph.

Oh I forgot to mention the girl riding, Tami was probably the best female riders I have seen besides pro. She threw tantrums, BS 180s, Switch backrolls and more. Made me look silly!
