Okay guys,

As promised here is a dedicated Dekelz ( custom graphics for boats ) thread.

Basically we offer custom designed dekelz for boats, everything from full wraps to reg #'s

Here are some details and instructions on going forward with ordering

For the #'s all we need is a good pic of your boat and a nice up close pic of the Tige graphics package and we will custom design a matching # set.

everything is 100% custom, Because my partner is a true graphic artist it gives us 100% flexibility to create and design what the customer wants.

With that said we have 2 deals for spring.

1) Custom designs from our library, these are very universal and seem to blend good with all colors and all graphics package ( I will post the examples in a new thread) These we sell regular for $65.00 We allow for color changes to match the boat.

2) is a complete custom decal with 1 hour design time, which means you work with Mick until you are happy, Mick will email you a mock up to start based on the boat and colors and then you have input on changes ( if need be) and you go from there. This package is $90.00

**This is basically the package Tim chose for the Wet Sound project.

Both packages include out high quality vinyl material and includes lamination to protect the graphics from the elements.

For spring we are offering a 10% discount and free mail shipping on both packages.

Payment is via pay-pal and turn around time is usually around 3-4 days depending on the clients approval of the mock up, once we have approval, we print/cut/laminate and ship.

Ordering details:

1) Email either Mick or Korgae AT DEKELZ dot COM with the subject line" Tige Owners Spring sale" Please attach 2 good pics of the boat, one of the graphics package and one overview of the boat.

2) Let us know your Reg # and what size you would like to the final dekel to be. ( Legal is 3 inches but we can do any size) most common are: 2.25 inches 2.5 inches or the Legal 3 inches. Let us know if you want the dekel above or below the rub rail.

3) Include any details of what you would like to see of the design or colors.

4) Please include whatever email address you want the proofs and mock ups to be delivered to if different then the sending email.

We work on a 1st come 1st serve base to be fair to all our customers. So please let us know an appropriate timeline and we will work within that to the best of our ability.

To any current customers, please use this thread from now on to showcase your custom dekelz's and boats:)

As Mock ups are created, I will try to post them here as well.

Also any questions, please post here as well.

Thanks again for the opportunity.

Here are some random samples we have done.

Depending on how much you care-- you may wanna think twice about doing those Fox heads. I know first hand that most MX related companies will aggresively pursue trademark infringements if you get caught. Of course, the odds you'll get caught are fairly low, but if you do they WILL make you pay handsomely. Depends on whether or not you like to gamble;)

I have been looking for someone to do "téam garcia" on the back of my 24Ve, to replace large tigé on my transom. Same look, same font. What would that set me back? Maybe matt and lunchbox will want to jump in on that. ;-)

Thanks for the concern, we are well aware of what we can and not do with logo's... It is something that I am sure all custom decal shops around the world deal with. It's a very good question and I will explain what we can and can not do.....

The deal is, we can reproduce just about anything we want as long as we don't advertise it as a product. We can not post a page on our site that shows copywritten logos for sale, but we can do custom design for individuals. ( as in the #'s) it is 100% custom.

The other rule of thumb in the industry that we go by, is that you can produce up to 500 copies of something without it being a copyright infringement.

But we DO NOT test that theory as we specialize in "one off custom designs. Some shops take that to the limit, the ones on ebay for example.

If you have any other legal suggestions or questions, I would be happy to answer them in PM me as to not take this thread off topic..

Thanks in advance.

Do you have a graphic that is the same as the "Tige" decal on the side of older Tiges?

Great idea!

Getting the font and graphic to match is no problem, just let me know the size you want and I can do a quote for you.

If Matt and Lunch want the same thing, it would be pretty cheap as you would be splitting the design time 3 ways ( I would guess no more then one hour)

All we would need it a picture and we can re draw it to be the same or we can change it up how ever you want.

I am asuming we are talking about the one with the wave at the end of the "e"?

Yeah, my biggest concern is having it be close to identical bc there is likely to be fading of the gelcoat around where that is

Challenging but not that hard. I already have most of the vector shapes. The Tige logos arent a straight font they are customized fonts.

Korgae,

The design I was creating is almost identical to your 4th image down (black background.)

I'll pm you later about it.

I think for size, the best would be to see a mock up, of the back of the boat, with the decal, to decide if it is too big or too small.

I would want the same factory look in the style and font and such.

Here are some more pics.

Oh yeah, I took these pics before I did the handle, here it is with the handle.

And here is a picture I did, that I sent to a decal company last year to do this, and the mock ups they sent me sucked. Shows measurements.

No problem. We can do that with your help. One you can give us exact measurements of the logo on the boat, or you can take some trace paper and trace out the shape as best as you can, ( just where the decal is) and we can work from the trace paper. We can also slightly oversize the outside stroke of the graphic by 1 to 2-mm's that would take care of any spots that might have faded.Or we can design a custom package that will cover the complete area with a new logo.

YUP That is my # for this year :) It matches the new RZ2 badge on the 08. I noticed you have the 08 badge on your boat as well :)

It looks awesome on the boat! I will take pics later of my boat with them on.

@ Ragboy.

Can you email me those pics in a high res korgae at dekelz dot com and CC it to Mick at the same address with exactly what you want for spelling and such.

We will do a quote and a mock up for you.

It will be no problem....

Do you still have the other email mock ups I would like to see how another company sends them out.

Thanks

Edit- just read the height. Nevermind.

Depends on the size you choose, Mine are 2.25 and total length is about 2.5 feet long.

If you want to go with 3 inches it would make the overall length a bit longer then mine.

Also depends on how many #'s your state issues.

I like mine smaller as it blends in perfect with the boat but some people want to run 100% legit as well.

Tim wanted 3 inches for the WS boat as he already gets heat from the sheriff as the boat attracts attention. For the average boater, I don't think you will find anyone carrying a tape to measure them so that is why the 2.5 is very popular.

Great thanks. I am gonna do a quick measure on my boat bow to get a good ideal length. I finished my design today so I will send that over to you next week.

Hi RagBoy,

This is Mick, the Dekelz designer :)

Here is a sample of what your boat name would look like using a font very similar to the Tigé font:

http://www.dekelz.com/proofs/teamgarciaproof.jpg

and a mockup for sizing purposes:

I look forwrad to your reply,

I don't know if you want to make this private...

It doesn't look enough like the tige logo to me. the font is off, and so is the style. I am not as picky as the style. It is def better than the last quote I got. If I have the art done myself, with another artist, can you print from that?

DekelzMan
04-03-2008, 06:14 PM
No worries on the private thing. I've never pretended to be perfect :)
There is something about the Tige font I can't quite get right. I have in excess of 2700 fonts and none of them are quite the same which leads me to believe they haven't used a font at all, they've just based it on one. If you have another artist that wants to take a crack at it, by all means :)

you can't use a font, you have to take something close, bring it in something like illustrator, convert to outlines, and then tweak to perfection.

Yup... No problem..

I think one thing to keep in mind is that when we do these #'s and small projects we fit them in between large projects that keep dekelz busy through the year. We have many large contracts with many national brands. This is really a side business we are into because I like boating and I have a Tige.

Ragboy, I understand your point and as a business owner yourself I hope you understand ours.. When you tackle a small project like this, it is always a balancing act of pleasing the customer and of course profit. To our clients we bill out at $150 a hour for design time, and with that the customer gets exactly what they want. the problem with this is... In order for the customer to get exactly what they want you have to be willing to pay the design time.. Either ours or someone else's. The result of this is sometimes a person swallows his tongue when his simple decal he wanted to be a exact match ends up costing $300 + dollars.

Now I know you have lots of money... and lots of toys... so I am sure it is not a problem for you to pay to have exactly what you want. But Mick did not know that and does not know your history and he is again trying to do that balancing act to get a customer something that is custom and trick for a decent buck.

For this deal we are charging $90.00 a hour for custom stuff for any Tige Owner that wants custom art work.

This is true, it is their own font. I asked Tigé about it a few years ago when we bought our boat.
