Anyone out there have a metcraft tower lingering in a backyard or garage they want to unload? 2000 21i RE or equivalent. I have thick skin so I won't be offended by the "are you crazy" responses!

CP3, Got the boat, want a second tower to modify to specs from Andrew
at my leisure during the season. I have access to a complete welding/fabrication shop, materials and talented staff. I have in mind a "not to exceed" $ amount so it will make financial sense. I've got the bimini and racks which would be over and above an aftermarket tower cost. Keep the responses coming, I appreciate the feedback.

If you are I might be interest in what you come up w/. My metcrap tower is still on my boat but I reinforced it over the half lap joints. I don't think mine will come apart to easy.

TRD, a similar fix is what I had planned. 1.75 o.d. tubing( 6" long approx) slid over the half lap and welded in place. Refinished after and the tower pads will cover the welds. I prefer not to begin this project this close to the season with the tower on my boat. I assume liability and I can oversee the fabrication process. My thought is new tower and all the accessories versus 3 or four seasons of $4.00 petrol. Also no holes to fill. Thanks for the reply TRD Lightning out.

They told me that it may make the tower weaker so I put a piece of 14" long SS and milled out holes over the lap joints. It was a very tight fit over the welds but I don't plan on lowering the tower. I will take it off before I do that. Just wandering what your opinions about that is.
Thanks
anybody got a pic where you can point out the problem areas? thanx
check out this link. This is where I found out I had a problem. I also used to pull tubes from the tower ever before I knew it was broke. We were really lucky.

Oh, by the way can anyone tell me or direct me where I might fine some new straps or something that would work to hold the boards in place. My straps are old and don't stretch anymore. I would like to have something like the new board racks have to hold the boards on. Any suggestions. My tower looks just like these w/ the board holds on the top. I have reinforced it, so I don't worry about it as much anymore.

I have one that I pulled off after it broke the second time (one of the threads on here). I don't want to sell or give it away because, quite frankly, I think they're dangerous and don't want the liability.
However... I do have a beautiful bimini from my metcrap that I'd be willing to sell. If you end up getting one of these old towers and need a top, let me know. It's black with a yellow stripe down the middle.
Hey scootc,
What are you board rack straps like? Are they in good shape. I am trying to find something a little more elastic but mine don't work to well. I am a lot thinking about rigging something w/ bungy cords. Just asking.

They are essentially just a bungee cord with a plastic ball at one end. I should think you could get the materials at ACE hardware.

TRD - Do you have the Metcraft tower? I bought boss board racks and they work perfect for the top cross bars... Chrome and look sharp. I may be interested in selling them... I have two sets; so you can hold 4 boards... Let me know...
You can see them under my member pics.
I do have the old metcrap tower (I re-inforced it). It has the built in racks on the top. I can put 2 boards up there now. My speakers seemed to be in the way from putting other wakeboards up there. I can put my surfboards under the wakeboards and my skiis. Send a pic to my email address.
