I was going to wash my boat today, since the last five days of use have left it, extremly dirty. I ran out of car soap, and put some dawn in in, least I think it was dawn. It took just about every water spot I had on the boat off. Will dawn harm my gel goat? I wouldn't think so. I have to see it in direct sunlight to see if it really took all the water spots off( I was washing at dusk), but it looked pretty good. Anyone ever tried this?

Dawn and other dish washing soap can take the wax off. Use something like turtle wax car wash.

The Dawn works fine, but Hard water spots don't come off by using it. I suggest you put on a wax right after using the Dawn. It will strip a light layer of Wax, which is where your spots were embedded. I suggest you use protect-all as a light wipe on wax. You can get it at most RV supply stores. It works great on fiberglass, and helps keep those spots to a minimum.

I use Meguirs Boat Wash and it has taken out the waterspots.
