i have 2002 221 type with no ballast system, 350 mpi... and a friend of mine just bought a 2004 supra 22 ssv gravity games eddition... very nice boat i might add. how much bigger wake will his boat throw than mine or will it. it has a smaller beam at 95 in. and mine is as 102 in. and his boat only weighs about 3300 lbs vs mine at 3900. even with his ballast he is only a couple hundred pounds heavier than me. he says it will ba almost twice a high.. is there any truth to this ????? and what is the comparrison between these two. mechanicaly, and performance wise, and also logivity ?? i am just trying to learn about all kinds of different boats. i am kind of new to the boat world..
if anyone can teach me a little bit.. i would appreaciate it a bunch..

In theory his wake should be taller , less width less surface area , but taller doesnt dictate shape , as for dependabilty skiers choice builds moomba, & suppra they are good boats but not up to tiges ride or driving qualities, how well you take care of any boat will determine how good it will last as to resale tige are very strong there.

My son says the wake on his friend's Supra is pathetic compared to our Tige.

I have a friends that have a Centurion, a MB B52, and an older DD Bu. All of them prefer my wake over theirs.

I have not been overly impressed with the wakes I've seen from any Supra--even with ballast. I'm not a "wakeologist" or anything and I've never actually boarded behind them, but from visual appearance they are less impressive.

You can also change your wake with a switch in 3 seconds....ask him to do that.

Most Supras nowadays come with an adjustable 'wakeplate' (Pirated TAPS) so they can adjust their wake somewhat. The hull just is not the same.

I would be more interested in your opinions after riding in and behind both of them.
Listen for how his boat rattles when it goes through the double ups.

His wake being twice as high is BS.

Supra's hull shape hasn't really changed in 20+ years. I have a friend who's got an '85. Still looks the same.

Supra's hull on the newer boats look almost identical to mine. Even in the rear.

so realy i guess yall are saying that his wake might be a little bigger but not as solid as mine. i wish i could ride behind it but he is in another state.. i like my 22 i but i imagine that i would like a 22v better.. ha ha

but isnt supra the gravity games boat for a reson ???? or did they just pay them enough to use their boats?

and does skiers choice mean that they are made for skiing rather than wakeboarding?

Skiers Choice is the name of the company that builds moomba & supras .

As to who pulls what tournament has to do with who created the tournament.

What's the difference between the Supra's adjustable plate and TAPS?

Nothing, it's the combination of TAPS and the Convex V hull that makes the Tige special.

I have a 2004 22i. My friend has a 2004 Supra 22 ssv. To be honest my wake is no comparison to his. When he fills the ballast tanks twice as big is a true statement compared to 22i without ballast.

V drive, narrower beam, and ballast make a huge difference.

You can go behind a 30ft sea ray which will have a massive wake but it still wont give the pop you need for a trick , wake shape is more the key then hight. My sons tournament ski and do there tricks with minamal wakes if the shape is correct .

SSV used to stand for SunSport V. After visiting the supra website I can see that has changed and the SSVs have different graphics and probably different options from the V.

Typical useless comment, Zad, just to run up your post count. If you are going to disagree with someone, you should explain.

I said the wakeplate on a supra will allow a person to adjust the wake shape SOMEWHAT. Do you dispute that Supra's wakeplate adjusts the wake shape?

As Spharis pointed out, Supra's hull shape is very close to Tige's...hence when you put an adjustable plate on the back, you get very close to the same effect.

It may look close, but it's not that close. The wake is very different. Don't get me wrong, I like the Supras, especially the 224 Gravity Games edition.

What I was disputing was your comment about Supra "pirating" Tige Taps. Which isnt necessarily true. Although I do not know who had the wake plate first I do know that Supra had it in '89( before tige ) and maybe before. Like you already know Tige perfected the wake plate by introducing the convex hull. In tune with each other it is much more effective then just the plate.

From my experience skiing behind a Supra almost every weekend for my skiing carreer, I can tell you that even the Comp model in '04, that had the straight hull, the wake plate does change the wake. I can tell if my cousin leaves the plate in his trick skiing position at about 25% up.

I do agree that they have changed their shape of their hulls to mirror those of tige's.

:ot::bs: I keep my post whoring to the Three Word Post Whores thread. :bs::ot:
