Let's start a discussion about a purchase of such flags.

We have:

1) 24 inch by 16 inch flag
2) TigeOwners.com silk screened on the flag
3) able to have User Name printed on it.

anything else?

Color? White?

I vote for a bright orange version as well for those of us who are required to use a flag for skier down/rope in the water. I think that would be cool too!

Look at it this way, you can get an orange flag anywhere and you'll only fly your orange flag when a rider is down. A truly custom flag can be flown at all times from the tower, the bimini or a custom flag holder.

Pricing seems about the same. It is gonna be much cheaper for a single color screen print (white) vs a digital print gradient like the logo.

If you can get 25, the 2x3 flags are only $30 at that point.

I would be in for it. I have not looked in a while, but if embroidered is not much more, then I would highly suggest that. The silk screening would not last as long, but I would still be in for it. Chp's suggestions on colors are the same as mine.
My parents have had some burgees made for their boat owner's group, but considering the cheap versions of their boat are $450,000, cost was really not an option. They had this place make them.

I take it back about the embroidery, the big problem would be cost. To not have the letters reversed on one side, the flag would have to be double layered, not cheap. Back to the silk screen:ro:

Well, the easiest and probably cheapest way to get this done would be white background with the gray lettering as show on the image on the top of the page.

Adding a name or a place for the name will only add more stuff to the design.

So, here is a suggestion ready for veto'ing. :D

-----------------------------------
White Flag 18 inches by 24 inches
Gray Image centered onto the flag.
-----------------------------------

Simple but classy. :D

Have not found my add yet. When you don't need something then they are everywhere:(

I am thinking 16 x 24 flag.
Was going to have the company show from top to bottom and a straight across. Most inexpensive is solid colors. Like white print on black flag.

I have asked Matt for the artwork so I can start getting quotes.

Are screen names a must? Adds to the cost

Funny, I just PM'd Matt asking if this type of thing would be available in the "Tige Owners Gear" area of this site. I am hoping to see if Matt or the owners of this site can purchase the flags and have them available as gear.

I don't need the user name on the flag. The flags are there to start the communication within the Tige family and to get this site's name out for others to join. :D

i'll buy what ever, but I would really like to get one just like my tige one. It's just like the tige one's they used at the bluewater reunion. It's like 3x2 feet or maybe 3x4 feet, something that flies big, and you can see and represent. I could fly it all the time and it would rock!

Wow! You guys really took this idea and moved it along. I just got back from the lake and noticed some pirate flags on a few boats. The black with white would stand out the most. I think smaller in size is better. My original idea was more that other Tigéowners.com readers would recognize it instantly and know they are a team player. Not so much for advertising. I do think there would be some benefit there though. Some guy says, "Hey, I saw these Tigés with these same colored flags. Where do I get one of those"? At the reunions is the only place you would want your screen name on it.

My original thought was like a green color (maybe like an army/kaki). I thought the unique color would be the most identifying thing. I do kije the black whit thing like I mentioned above. Good job Jim.

Alternatively, you could put screen names on a sticker by your driver's side window.

da.bell

Flag color and what they mean:

Blue: often represents freedom, vigilance, perseverance, justice, prosperity, peace, and/or patriotism.

White: often represents peace, purity, mountain snow, and/or innocence. A simple white flag represents surrender.

Red: in flags often represents courage, revolution, hardiness, blood, and/or valor.

Green: can symbolize the Earth, agriculture, fertility, and/or the Muslim religion.

Yellow/Gold: often represents the sun, wealth, and/or justice.

Black: often represents determination, ethnic heritage, and/or defeating one's enemies.

I was thinking the same thing, but look at the construction. You could buy an appropriate sized clamp from somebody like DYI WAKE (http://www.diywake.com/shop/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=72&cat=Clamps) and then have a section of aluminum tubing welded right to it. Paint or polish and your good to go.

I'm in, but I think we should agree on the colors, I like a black and white one to match my tige one. But I'm in, as it's the same size as my other flags, and it would match perfectly.

Fly them with the flag poles from Overtons that fit into your nav. light receptical

the only problem is the flag poles are still on back order. HOWEVER I have had them before and they work GREAT! I'm adding a second receiptical to my port side so I can fly two flags:) They extend to up to 6 feet, so you can fly any size flag, they work great, just don't try to use them for a balance or hand rail:) don't ask!

Sorry guys. Work got a little hectic and I am racking up some frequent flyer miles. This kind of got put on the back burner.

I have requested quotes on a very simple 12 x 18 and 16 x 24 inch flag with the tigeowners.com straight across and diaganolly. I have been playing phone tag with the company as I do not have much free time. If someone wants to take charge I would appreciate it.

Dear Clark
We need to have the artwork as an EPS or AI file to work with. For your questions we can make the flags in 12 days we prefer to send all together and you can order more and yes the price will go down.

Please tell me the quantity and I’ll quote you.
thanks

....anyone know how to get the artwork in tha format?

dogbert
08-31-2007, 12:19 PM
It's an Adobe Illustrator file format. Many of the drawing packages, like Corel Draw allow you to create these using their Save As function.

Razzman
08-31-2007, 01:08 PM
CP3, send me the file if you want and i can save to an *.eps file for you.

I am not sure CP3 has the file unless Matt sent it to him. However, I know Matt sent the file to XPJim. CP3 might have the interent version of the image and the quality of that image isn't as good as Matt has. :02:

CP3??????????

spharis

EPS = encapsulated post script
The file contains vectors to determine the shape and color of the artwork.

AI = Adobe Illustrator file
This is Adobe's version of an EPS. It contains some data readable by vector drawing tools in programs, but can also contain extra data useable in Adobe Illustrator and other apps.

You cannot take a raster image (an image that is built using colored pixel data....IE gif, jpg, psd, etc, etc) an export out a useable vector image file. The file will have the .eps or .ai extension, but the data required will not be there. It will basically be a screenshot of artificial path data, usually of the outline.

There are some programs that can trace a raster image (flash can do it limited, and will require some cleanup) A vector program must have the path data available. Nearly all print houses require the path data (EPS, AI, DWG, etc) to be able to get their printing program to read the file. If you can find an old school silk screener, they can do it without the vector data using an emulsion screen and UV. I used to do this at a print shop I worked at.

If you cannot supply the vector artwork, you need to pay to have a graphic designer redraw the image logo and convert the text data to paths (this is why the print houses always want to upcharge you for not having compatible artwork). The chrome effect on the tigeowners.com logo looks like it is a raster blend and is probably not path data. That is probably not required for the single color printing we are having done though. It could be recreated in vector info, but for a printer to get the blend look, it would require them to modify it to work with the type of printer software they have available (some do gradients differently). I would offer to redraw it, but I don't have time right now. Maybe if it isn't ready when I return form my trip I can see if it still needs to be done.

Matt, if you are following this and need to logo redone in illustrator or freehand, what typeface did you use for the tigeowners.com text?

TeamAllen

What if the lettering w/out logo) went diagonally so it maintains the larger font size and the logo went in the upper left or lower right of the flag?
Does that make sense? Kind of like the diver down flag. Maybe I can have my son work up something art wise.

Thanks to my son, I'll try and post it up. Maybe a little crude, but you get the idea.

OK so back in town and the flag Company I went to is $27.50 per flag with a min order of 15. There flags are more expensive because they digitally print each side then sew them together. They will not do design work until we commit and place a deposit.

CP3 company appears to be a better choice as they will print on the same material and I have asked him to get a price on the 12 x 18.

TeamAllen , Matt would need to approve the deviation from the logo. I had the same idea but with the prop in the upper and lower corner. 2 props. Can your son mock one up like that.

I cannot find the company who made flags for me the last time, they were reasonable about 7 years ago

Domsz06
09-06-2007, 02:14 PM
i like the slant with two props, and would buy a large one and a small one.

If you don't get the two props I'll still buy a large and small one, so I'm in for 2, one of each and will send money to whoever. Like I told Cp3, i'll ship the large one's to the first 10 people for free, and after that what ever it costs is all it costs you.

dogbert

That's killer, except one minor mod. Make sure the props and logo line up on both sides when you put them back-to-back, so you'd have to make one slope the opposite from the other. Otherwise, it's going to look funny.

Nice work!

I personally like what chpthril has done with the flags here :
http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=6107&stc=1&d=1188958205
Also the site will eventually phase out the prop logo and just use the tigeowners.com lettering. I personally just like the lettering and not the prop but its up to the majority of what people want on here.

The logo can only be used like my example that is attached below. The prop must be on the left side of the lettering or not attached at all.
