View Full Version : Brown Ooze

I have a 2003 22I. There is a brown liquid oozing out of the side seats on both sides of the boat. It runs down right over the speakers that are mounted on the sides near the floor.
It is a very light consistancy not much thicker than water. It is not stickey or oily. It has no particular smell. I didn't have the courage to taste it.
At first we thought someone had spilled a soft drink there, but after repeated rinsing it still keeps coming. When the cusions get wet and someone sits there, out it comes.
I took the cushions off today to look under, but saw nothing to indicate what it is or where it is coming from. It seems as if something is in the foam of the cushions.
Has anyone experienced this? Any ideas what it is? How do I get rid of it?
Any help is appreciated.

i have this same "brown ooze" coming from my gull wings and from the small rear side seats. I have an 03 21i-R
i can tell you that, if it rains and i do not have a tarp over my boat cover, the cover will seap water through it and that water will then saok into the gull wins and other cushions. I have to raise the gullwings and let the water drip out, thus creating a puddle of brown ooze as described above.

I have the same problem in the gull wings. Would be nice to know how to stop it. I think any moisture that gets in is reacting to the foam or something. Has anyone asked Tige??

We are here to support all Tige Owners but please go through the dealer if possible. You will need your boat number this is the TIX--------- number.

In my case the problem was caused by some treated wood that was used in the seat cushion. Apparantly the product used to treat the wood seeps out when wet.
The fix is to replace the cushions.

Is this for any year Tige or just the 2003? My is a 2001 that has the brown "ooze" anytime the seats get wet.

I have a 2001 and it has the same problem. My dealer is contacting Tige with my VIN number but the dealer sounded like it wasnt a problem. I will let you all know.

Had the same problem with my 2000 21V Limited. The problem was that even though all mounting hardware is SUPPOSED to be stainless...it is not. My local dealer had to replace the mounting hardware on my seat backs to solve the "brown ooze" (rust) problem.

I have the same problem as well on the back locker of my 2000 21i, just sorta been an annoyance since I bought it in Jan but it's good to see that it is a known problem.

Is there anything I can do about this brown liquid problem?
I have a 2000 21i that I bought through a private party in January. The problem started as a every so often thing and has now turned into a real pain.

Matt -
I called my dealer and was told because I'm not the orginal owner of the boat the warranty no longer applies. The boat still has the problem regardless of the fact I'm the 2nd owner.
Is there something you can do for me?
