How is everyone weighting the 2001 21i for wakeboarding?

What we usually do is put about 300lbs in the walkway and adjust the wake with Taps. We usually have about 5 people in the boat for extra balast as well. I recently got a 500lb sab that I was thinking about putting in teh back but I thought that would be too much weight in the back.

What do you think about putting 2 300lb sacks on the sides of the engine and a 250lb up front?

Thanks again.

I say roll with it and let us know how it comes out? Play around with location and weights and write it down and let us know!!

I'm not a good wakeboarder but I put a 300# sac under the back seat and (2) 400# sacs one on each side of the engine. At 47 the wake is big but everyone else likes it.

Then for surfing I move both 400# sacs on the same side. I don't usually put weight up front, I get tired of swimming inside the boat.:D

Guess I will be the test guy. :)

I ordered a bunch of ballast the other day and just got a e-mail saying all the stuff I ordered its out of stock :(

I really wanted to get the launch pad captain chair but NO one has any in stock. If any one finds a place that has it I am all ears. :)

The chair seems like a great idea. I'm going to experiment with human ballast and maybe even a couple of bags of salt or sand to see what difference adding some weight makes.

Let me know what you discover and I will as well!

Good luck.

The chair seems like a great idea.

Ya figured it would got great behind the drivers chair and adds some extra seating + weight....

But NO FREAKING store has any they are all sold out.

I use a twin size air mattress and fill it up that way I can still have the back seat in place. It actually fills up perfect underneath the seat. We usually have 5 to 6 people and it puts out a big enough wake for landing out in the flats, backrolls and other intermediate tricks. you definitely can't get a pro size wake out of it though. Not sure how much the air mattress weighs when filled. :02:

What do you mean?
"at 47"???

I just cleared the wake last time we were out. It seems like the when we put weight in the back the wake got wider or I just got tired of landing on my head! I already had my should redone from skiing, just don't want to go through that again.

OH! You said "At 47 the wake is big but everyone else likes it."... I thought you were talking about the speed, not anything to do with age. That's awesome about clearing the wake. With school starting I can't get anyone to get out on the boat to try different weighting configs.

I thought it was a typo!!! but "27" would be too fast and "17" would be too slow...

Tropical Storm "Danny" might be paying a visit as well. I am going to try and get out tonight.

I haven't even checked out the weather. My wife wanted some new countertops and I wanted tile floor in the kithen so I have been messing w/ that the past 3 wkends. Now we are doing floors, countertops and backsplash. We just did a new kitchen 11 years ago.

if you ever get down this way let me know. We have about the same boat. We can go out here until nov. and sometime Dec w/ wetsuits.

Are we living parallel lives? We did our backsplash a couple of years ago, I started the basement in January, which took me to a patio paver project due to the walkout level of the basement, ... it seems to be never ending. Definitely not enough time out on the boat this summer.

Ever get up this way? You are always welcome here too!

You guys winter is for in home projects!!!! Summer is for boating!

I lining up to borrow some ballast for Labor day weekend I will try some different configurations and take/post up pics of what I find.

Well that might be true in Utah, but here I have been on the lake in Dec. and Jan 1. We skiied well into Nov., need wetsuits and it is cold but the water is smooth. Doesn't hurt to have a power plant on the lake either.:D

I have a 99 21i that really seems to labour under weighting for surfing say 1000#'s or so. It has never been the quietest of hulls but it really roars/groans when surfing, to the point we don't do it anymore. We mostly ski/board anyway so no biggie but I'm wondering if something bad is going to happen. Has anybody with this vintage of tige had this? Is it possilble that this much load tweaks the shaft/strut alignment so much it causes excess vibration? Other than redoing the shaft etc, (did it 3 summers ago), would a new prop help? Currently running 3 blade SS that was also redone at same time, could stand the boat to get up to waterskiing speeds a little faster too.

Yes a new prop would help I called and spoke with ACME, with adding that much weight you kinda need to re-prop the boat.

I have a new one coming, but it is showing up Friday and I am heading out Thursday to the lake. So I want be able to do the weight testing with it.

I live in Southern Utah and some of the best days that we've had have been Christmas eve, New Years eve and other winter holidays. As long as there is no wind, the sun is shining and with a drysuit, it's all good.:D

I do get some cavitation when turning in 1 directions so I just don't turn that direction.(can't remember left or right) Other then that mine runs fine. Acme did tell me an Acme 525 would work for my boat. (Dog: is this correct)
I do have a 4 blade prop on my boat, I don't really care about top speed as long as it will do 32-34 for skiing.

I can't say anything, when I lived in St. Pete I didn't go in the water w/out a wetsuit in the winter and I was in the gulf. I always thought your water over there was cold. :D (I laugh at that now)

out of curiosity, what rpm do you run to get 34mph? I just gps'd my speedo and I run ~3900rpm to get a true 35mph. We definitely cavitate turning right much worse than left. I may go for the 525 myself if the noise turns out to be just that, noise.

I am not sure. I usually do 30-32 mostly now. I'm older now and had 1 shoulder surgery do to waterskiing course runs.

I don't get any cavitation at the higher speeds, mine is basically at the lower speed. I figured it was because that back of the boat had so much weight in it. I really don't have that happen to often, I will get surges from time to time when surfing, all of this is at low speed and alot of weight in the boat.
