While driving home from our annual Lake Powell vacation this past week, my two sisters were driving together in my oldest sister's Toyota Camry. She apparently dozed off and went off of the road and lost control of the car. They went off into the dirt, hit a mound of dirt and got launched in the air, Dukes of Hazard style, the car rolled twice and landed on its' wheels. My sister who was driving basically walked away with minimal injuries and was taken to Kanab hospital for precautionary reasons. She was released a couple of hours later. My other sister was flown to Flagstaff medical center, with a fractured rib, a fractured sternum and a T2 compression fracture. (Any thoughts Tall?) We don't know when she will be released from the hospital.
Some pictures are attached.
So when driving home from your vacation, please be careful.

They expect her to be okay, they ruled out any surgery so that is good. The unfortunate part is that she was flown to Flagstaff and with everybody having to get back home, nobody has been able to get back there to the hospital yet. She isn't married so is basically all alone there.

I am glad everyone was OK (alive). Those type of accidents claim many lives every year.

Wow! That looks nasty. I had a friend in highschool that did the same thing coming home from Powell and was killed instantly. The car landed on the roof. Count your blessings! We wish your sister a speedy recovery!

I spoke to LP, and commented on how lucky she is to be alive and without a head injury. Seat belts save lives. Debris from inside the car was strewn up and down the highway, which likely would have included the occupants ejected had they not had their seat belts on.
I also thought she was lucky given the crappy looking car she was driving. LP told me that the car was in terrific shape and is not all that old, it just looks rusty from the red dirt that covers it.
Man, I am glad that everybody survived that and I wish your sister a speedy and safe recovery. I know this may sound a little comical, but I carry a can of red bull in Denali in case I start to feel sleepy when driving. So far, I haven't needed to use it. Hopefully, she will meet a nice attractive single doctor down there in Flagstaff to keep her company!
