Ok so I installed the FAE from the group buy. Been a while but Larry sent the wrong flange for my boat. Prob is......the damn thing keeps sliding off the flange. Have one clamp to "clamp" down from the FAE to the flange. Buying another tomorrow but made my 2 week vacation difficult as the darn thing kept coming off. Anyone else having an issue? I love the FAE, super quiet and no CO smell, just wondering what I'm doing wrong.

Mine is double-clamped at each connection  Got some pics from different angles?

Call Larry, he will get you fixed up.

Yeah, it should be double-clamped. Also, it should be angled upward, not downward or you'd get too much drag.

Pics would help. I'd send them to Larry, too. He'd get it diagnosed PDQ.

No issues here. Even installed by an unprofessional person. Call Larry, he will get it hooked up.

Call Dr. Mann. His customer service is second to none.

We actually had a couple problems w/ install too. I ordered the FAE through the GB and they sent me the wrong square tube hanger. (sent me one for a teak platform instead of fiberglass; about 2.5 feet shorter) Larry was very quick to send out a new hanger but the new one, despite all the measurements I gave, was about 8" too long. Not a big deal.. Cut it down and lined everything up then realized that the two holes that were drilled for the all-thread rods were off by about 1.5". I didn't have a stainless steel drill bit so I had to take everything off and my dad took it to work to get it drilled. After all of it was finally worked out and we had all the holes drilled in the square tube hanger and had it cut to the correct length, it was a piece of cake.

From start to finish it was no where near as easy and care-free as I thought it would be.. But I couldn't be happier with it!

Oh and ours also has double clamps at the flange location and seems to be holding up fine!

This is my second year with a FAE.
Never had one prob.

BTW, I think Larry's including the drill bit now. I picked up one for a buddy when I was at his shop and he added it to the package.

Give Larry feedback and he'll make it right. He's a pretty good wakesurfer, too. :D

I've had zero problems with mine. Most definately, call Larry. He will make it right. Should be two clamps everywhere there are clamps.

Has anyone had problems with the paint peeling off their FAE? I bought with the GB and I'm happy except I just noticed that large pieces of the black paint are peeling off. I emailed Larry this morning, so I'll wait & see.

Larry will hook you up. He's had some issues with vendors for the coating. He'll make it good.

I wonder if he is using a different square tube now. I drilled through it just fine with a regular drill bit.

My paint has peeled off just inside the tube. He has had a bit of a problem with that. I don't think I will worry about it unless it starts to rust.

I don't think he's changed the square tube, he's just including the drill bit he would use to make it easier. When I asked him about it, he said that they weren't that expensive, but end result would be better and the install would be easier for the customer.

I don't think the exhaust will rust because it's stainless. The paint is purely cosmetic.

Did you get yours in the last group buy or the first one? Just curious. Either way, let Larry know.

I think it was the last one, spring time like March or around there.

Yup, that would be the last one. Interesting. I'll have to look closer at mine today.

Mine has only peeled inside the exhuast pipe. THe outside is all good. I got mine with the first group buy.

Got mine in March with that group buy. It's peeling on the starboard side, horizontal tube after the 90 turn coming out. Larry emailed me back and I am sending some photos this weekend.

Some pretty large flakes of paint have come off of the inside of mine too, but nothing on the outside. Like everyone has been saying I double hose clamped on the flange and on the exhaust itself and haven't had a problem since.
