I have had a really small tear in my vinyl about a month ago.:(

Capital Water Sports had a guy patch it up. He used some kind of paint. Well I have been cleaning the seats every now and then and I'm starting to notice the paint he used is coming off. So the corner piece is starting to shade 2 different colors.

The last thing i want to do is call the dealer again.

Does anyone here know of a good repair kit to use? Or should I let "them" do it? I really want that piece replaced with a new one. Would that be considered warranty? I hear the vinyl company will warranty the piece but I will have to pay the labor to have it installed.

I think you may be able to order that one skin since your boat is so new. I'd call your dealer. Then find a local upholstry guy to install it.

The labor won't be bad. The big expense is the material and the cutting/stitching.

We went through the same thing with our last Tige'.
The glu-ing doesn't work, period. Never has, never will.

Tige is the only boat builder I know of that glues.
All other builders replace/recover the cushion with no hassle what-so-ever.
Even Sea Doo.
It is definately a weak spot in Tige' warranty coverage.
Tige is well aware of it too.

You're right. They try to do it on leather seats also for scratches and it's a mess there, too. I someone suggests this, just say no. It only looks good for about a couple of weeks.

Must be a dealer thing on the repair. My dealer replaces the vinyl.

thanks guys, yeah I really dont like the fact of the gluing. Im going to call the dealership and request a replace. The paint they used is crap. Capital water sports needs to up the service department. They always say they have like 80 boats to work on. Poor kevin Bone is over worked and under paid. I feel bad for the guy.

Unfortunately, that is what happens when you are the #2 Tige dealer in the country last year.

I missed something. Explain what you mean by gluing? Do you mean that the way they fix all vinyl tears is to glue them back together and repaint it? That probably works fine on small tears, but I would not trust it on a large tear.

yes that is what they do for small ones. Or at least they did that to mine. Really not the way to fix it if you ask me. Tige is great except the dealership seems to want to cut corners and do a quick fix on things. In my opinion it is costing them more because I have been in twice for this same issue. Both times I have been unimpressed with the work. So its costing them more to have the vinyl guy to come out each time.:02:

Tigeblue, Talk with owner Kevin now. I too feel there is something wrong with the service department. They are all nice people but there is something wrong. Good luck.

I'd see if they can recommend a local vinyl guy. I've gotten several excellent recommendations from my dealer when they could not service my boat for a particular issue. Only problem is that now is the busiest time for the vinyl guys also. My dealer recommended I actually wait until the off-season because the work will be done quicker and be cheaper.

well considering the dealer did all the damage I feel they should make it priority to get it done now, and it should come out of thier pocket. All of us should not have to go through these quick fixes. I think we all deserve to be put first considering how much we all spent on our boats.I have been there 7 times for work to my new boat, from scratches to services to faulty work. I think that is a joke. I understand they are busy, but I don't think they should bit off more than they can chew. They should open a service shop at the Rocklin store to ease up on the work load. Keep those customers happy.

Da bell I have been in contact with kevin Bone, Kevin Brickhandler is to busy to worry about this stuff. His only priority is selling boats. He is a cool dude but Kevin Bone is the man!

tigeblue, Kevin Bone is great but have you sat down with him to explain what is wrong? I had to call them and tell them the fix to my wakeboard racks and from my understanding, Kevin Bone called Andrew that day. I don't think it is Kevin Bone is the problem, it could be the employee's that work for him. Not to mention the time of year is terrible since we all want to boat now....

Regarding Kevin B. He is busy but he is the owner of the store and service falls under him also. I find that Kevin B is busy but he could sell a mule saying it was a championship horse. He also takes care of his sales and the customers that he sold boats to. But, I don't want you to walk over Kevin B either. Both are great people but something needs to be done.

I 3rd that :D

We used to have a mobile vinyl repair co, Vinyl Dr, that would come by once a week to fix all the used cars or come by if I called about a customer's car that was in for service and had an interior issue.

They did fantastic work and never charged for trying to repair something and couldn't. They always told me up front if it may not look good. :ro:

No i mean Kevin bone is the man= he is a cool mofo:D He is the only one I will let touch my boat now. So that says allot about the help he has.

However that doesn't dismiss the fact that they are over working the guy and are very short staffed.

The owner Kevin is a really cool dude. He hooked it up, and he could sell a mule saying it was a championship horse! LMAO:p

So I talked to my Tige rep today. (This guy is probaly sick of me by now, :D ) I told him I didn't want to glue and paint the piece again. Its just going to happen over and over again. So I have to send some pics over so he can get me a new piece under warranty. So here we go again. Another trip to service. Thats 7 times total for this season alone. Oh well I guess I have to roll with it.:)

**Update**

Well finally got something done. After allot of back and fourth about this repair, I finally got my dealer to agree to get me new skins for the damage done.

I insisted that they replace the skins rather than glue and paint. Though they did tell me a few times that the paint shouldn't of come off. :bs:

Now if they would have done this right from the start they would have saved more money than they have already spent.

Now I'm getting new skins, but they said I have to wait 2 weeks. 2 weeks I asked? He told me Tige needs to make them. I asked the guy if he could just get the pieces and cut and stitch himself? Rather than wait for Tige to make me 2 new pieces. So he agreed to come over and patch the hole until the skins come in. Fair enough.

I have had my boat since April 20th and it has never really been 100%. So I'm totally stoked that this is all over with and its going to be replaced. To bad, the season is just about over with.
