I have heard rumors and I think they are accurate. Taylors Boats is no longer the local Tige Dealer he will be selling bu's and giving up Tige' and Nautique. Croft will be taking over the area for Nautique, good for him bad for Nautique owners, he is not known for great service. I have heard that Wasatch Marine Yacht sales will be the new Tige dealer. What's up with that? I love my Tige, but don't consider it a yacht. I wonder how my Tige will get serviced compared to the guy that spent $500,000.00? I know there is alot that goes into selecting a dealer and I'm sure it is not fun to have to pick a new area dealer, but I do have a recomendation. Fred's Marine out of Layton is a great dealer. I bought my last boat from him a Chaparral and had it for 18 years. He always was there when it came time for service. He has always been the kind of dealer that would do anything he could to get you back on the water as soon as possible. I don't think I have ever felt he has charged unfairly on any item he has sold or serviced for me. I just thought I would throw this up for comment. I know Fred's would establish a reputation similar to Matt at Boats of Nevada or TWS or Lee or all the other great dealers we have heard about on this site. I don't know much about Wasatch Marine, but chances are I may be getting to know them better. I don't know if Tige has penned a deal or not. My vote would go to Fred, but I know it doesn't count for much just my:02:

The guy who currently has the Bu dealership is not too bright, I went into his place before I bought my Tige and he was eating his lunch in the showroom and completely ignored me while I walked around his showroom. I was a serious buyer and tried to ask him some questions, he seemed put out that I interupted his lunch. Taylor's service has really improved since he has brought Kevin from the Tige factory onboard. I am surprised that he is giving up Tige. He already has Cobalt, Crown, Natique, and Tige. Is Croft the one that has Rinker?

Croft was the bu dealer. He was about the same with me when I was looking, not to interested in selling boats was what I thought. I am suprised that he is now going to selling Nautiques, they seem like some of the more finicky owners I've known. Oh well maybe this will be good for Tige' to start with a fresh dealer. I am wondering how service will be for guys that bought from Taylors? Will they try to win us over, or just service us becasue they have to because we bought elsewhere? I agree I thought service has been stepped up at Taylors. Can they still do our service or will it have to be warranted at the new place?

For warranty work, you will probably have to go to an authorized dealer. Croft will have to do a lot of winning over, my friend bought a Malibu from him and he has not been impressed.

I am a Nautique owner (previous Tige owner) and I was told that Taylors would continue to do warranty on boats that they previously sold. I'm sure in the hell not going to Croft.....he's an idiot. I had a similar experience as Moki. Croft is the primary reason I purchased my Tige and not a Bu.

I heard that BU pulled the line from Croft due to customer service issues. I can't see how Correct Craft can let him sell Nautiques because they place a huge emphasis on customer service. Laketime....I'm with you on making a few good friends down at Taylors. That is why they will continue to handle any warranty issues with my Nautique.

Well, apparently Correct Craft doesn't put that much of an emphasis on customer service, if they did, then they'd pull out of Sail & Ski here in Austin. I think if you sell enough boats, they don't care.

dogbert....

Interesting point. Maybe I should be looking at a BU for my next boat since they apparently care alot about customer service. I know Croft sold BUs like hotcakes here in Utah.

Croft sold like 65 bu's here in SLC last year. I don't think that Taylors sold that many Nautiques and Tiges together. I think that is why Taylors is moving to BU. It all comes down to money, I know for past customers it's about service, but it all comes down to selling units for the dealer.

A friend and I talked in passing about trying to get the Bu dealership in Utah, because we knew we could do a much better job and we knew that they were selling a lot of boats despite themselves.

we just picked our boat up from its 20 hour service at taylors (even though it allready has 68) and we asked them about this whole deal, and it's tottaly for sure. they are getting there bu's next week. they were going to try and keep tige but bu will not let them deal any other wake boat.

I also talked to them yesterday, they will continue to service and warrant all boats they sold, as long as Tige' will continue to honor warranty issues. So I guess the questions is how long will Tige' have them as a service center before they recommend you go to the new dealers place?

I wonder how a boat dealers cash flow works: I have been under the impression that the most money is made in the service department and that selling boats is not very lucrative.

Interesting the timing of moving out of the warehouse and into a pretty new shop that they switch.

Stopped in at Taylors today and it is a done deal his Malibus are showing up next week. Taylor came over and said all the right things as far as trying to keep me as a customer, but warranty will have to go to Wasatch Marine. Well I guess all us No Utah guys will have to get to know the guys at Wasatch. One of the possitives about Wasatch is they have a get together at Powell every Memorial day week end and from what I hear it is a big deal, I hope that it's open to us and not just the yatch buyers. I saw a plurb on the news this last spring and they close the dealership on one of the busiest week ends all for a customer appreciation deal, sounds good to me.

So Tige decided to pull Taylor's contract for warranty work? Does Wasatch have any experience with inboards?

Our new Tige dealer (came on board last Nov) is also a Cruiser Yacht dealer and tops in the country in both sales and service. If the dealer can keep a customer that just dropped 750K on a boat happy, I think he can keep anybody happy.

On a side note, Our dealer has sold about as many Tiges since Feb as the 2 previous dealers in the area did since Tige came to the Carolina's

That's a good reference point, I hope it turns out the same for Wasatch!

I had the same experiance at the BU dealer as you did MOKI. Then we went to Taylor's and Darin Mercer knew his stuff. He did a great job selling my wife on a boat period. Then it was a TIGE' on top of that. It is to bad Taylor's is letting TIGE' go. He just fixed things and it seems to be rocking in his favor. just keep us in the loop as to how things go for you guys :D

SugarCain,

you have it backwards. Dealers dont make crap off service/warranty work. They make money off their new boat sales. I wonder if Wasatch even has room to display the Tige line indoors. Or will they take you outside in a snowstorm to show you the 24VE?? Should be interesting to see what happens. I would have rather seen Tige in a brand new dealership by an actual wakeboarder than some I/O cruiser/tuber professional.

Thanks for the info. It would seem then that I would hear of a wider variety of prices if there were much markup on the boats. For example, if there were 10K markup, then you would hear of a dealer who has gotten hungry to move inventory, and was letting stuff go for 7-8K less than most others. I don't hear of that, or at least guys getting that good of a deal do not speak up (which might be the case). Maybe the markup is about 5K? Then if you sell 20 boats a year, you make 100K? Some guys seem to brag about a price that is 3-4K less than I hear everwhere else...

Darin actually delivered my boat to California for my wife to surprise me. I would say he is the salesman that represents TIGE' in the best way. I would love to see him working for TIGE' as a factory representative. I never saw him board but I am sure he is good. I know he is a U of U fan and after he delivered our boat he went to the U of U game in Oakland CA.

BYU did beat them last year. You have to admit that was a great pass to win the game. :ot:. I really felt for the Utah fans. That was just a sad game for them. U of U has a great medical program and is an outstanding University in all it does. So is BYU. :ro:

Darin is a great guy, he volunteered to help me lay sod when I was using that as the excuse as to why I couldn't come in and finalize my purchase. I think he really would have come and done it. He is a great asset to Tige', but he owns a SAN and would more likely go to the new Nautique dealer. But I guess it's all about selling boats for him and of the two I think he can sell more Tigé, he'll probably stay and sell bu's.

Just tell him if he stays and sells BU's the U of U will start a loosing streak and loose all their games for two years straight. Maybe he will move to the new TIGE' dealer.:D :D
