What can I use to fix a couple of small slices (about 1/2") in my upholstery?

I had a slice in my upholstery and had to have to whole seat recovered. Several different repair shops told me to repair it would not look the same so I had it recovered.

I'm not as concerned about the looks as much as keeping it from getting bigger. If I am to recover the whole thing, I'll wait until the end of summer :-)

I have seen people use super glue to stop it from spreading.

walmart sells a vinyl repair kit. worked well on our couch. may want to use as temporary until you can repair it at the end of summer.
