The most recent FAE group purchase peaked my interest and I've run a question by Larry Mann about availability of polished stainless for my boat 07 24 ve.
He responded that they were less than thrilled with the qualilty of the polished finish and wondered if We could post a query here to see what those of you who bought the polished finish thought. I'll see that he recieves a summary of all of your comments. Thanks in advance for your input.
I got the polished finish and I really like it.

I got the polished as well, but haven't installed it yet.

Mine has the polished finish. To me it is not a high gloss, super shiny polished finish, but more of a simple polished stainless finish- if that makes sense. I like it just fine.

In my conversations with Larry, he told me he was concerned with the quality, and the time it takes to get it polished to the point where he likes it. Sounded to me like he had an issue with the vendor as well.

Yeah, I looked at it but it seemed like it would be a pain to keep looking nice. So, I opted for black.

I was afraid of the opposite, I thought the black would eventually start coming off.

I'm sure there has been cases of both. I am confident Larry would make it good though.

Not sure that it really matters since that part of the boat is usually submerged.

I have said it before, and will say it again, couldn't be happier. The finish is as good as it performs-perfect.

I have black, but wish that I had the polished, it just has a nice bling factor to it in pictures. Never seen one in real life.
My black is starting to peel off a little.

BTW, I think it does look cool!

Where did you get the bars to cover the threaded bolts coming down?

If you read the instructions closely, you will find a note that Larry will send them to you if you request them. He sent me two pieces of ss pipe, I cut them to the exact length with a chop saw, covered the rods with rubber fuel line to take up the slack, and slid them on. It really finished the job off nice.

We love the way our SS FAE looks. The quality is excellent!

I got the SS and think it looks great. I have to admit I dont see it much but when I do I think it looks top notch.

I got the stainless and think it looks fine. Cannot say enough about Larry's support. I had a couple of questions before and after installtion and he couldn't have been more helpful.

Larry's a good guy and obsessive about providing a quality product.

My new FAE is in transit. I'll let you know about the install and maybe even post pics. I got the black version.

Your right, I tried to install mine on Monday and found one of the flange tube did not fit. I emailed him to find out if it was the incorrect flange, or installer error. He called promptly and told me that there have been a couple incidents of wrong flanges being shipped and a new one would be out asap.
I understand that ppl, or companies make mistakes. I don't get pissed unless the company gives me the run-around or some other BS. Larry stands behind his product and company, first rate if you ask me.:02:

Duner, those rods look killer.
I went with black since my Taps plate is black.
Larry was great to work with. About 7 or 8 months after taking delivery of mine, they found some pins that they really liked for the quick release. They sent me some without even asking if I would be interested. I thought it was pretty cool to send up an upgrade well after purchase for free. :ro:

I spoke to Dr. Mann today. He is sending me some of the new upright attachments because mine seems to be getting fouled up witht he rubber tubing that was used (so now it will look like the pic above). I told him the stainless was cool, but he said he has discontinued that for now because it was next to impossible to get it completely shiny without any scratches. I was impressed that he does not want to put his name on a product unless it is flawless.
He sent me the replacement parts for free. When he comes up with something else, I will probably buy that too. I already have a trick board.

Yeah, that is slick, I am going to have to request those! Still haven't installed mine yet. I have been too busy with the stereo, batteries, alternator and isolator. Maybe tomorrow!

Just installed mine tonight. I have to say, it was a piece of cake. All the parts were there, and they all fit exactly as they were supposed to. I can't wait to get it out and see how much of a difference it makes. Here is before and after shots.
